Neptune, Currently Our Furthest Planet, Was Discovered This Day 171-Years Ago; September 23, 1846.

by Anura Guruge

Extracts from my 2011 book

According to the lunatic fringe we are supposed to be hit by ‘Planet X’ this day — September 23, 2017. Did they realize that it was the anniversary of Neptune, the ‘Planet X‘ of its time, being discovered.

Neptune’s discovery, as I outlined it above, was pretty amazing and a testament to the cleverness of humans. Its existence was determined mathematically! That was 171-years ago. It still has me in awe.

Aren’t We Supposed To Be Hit By Planet X Today?

by Anura Guruge

I just saw a Flying Pig with a flower sticking out of his belly!

This garbage and the ‘flat earthers’ who believe in it just infuriates me, no end.

If you have a modicum of understanding of basic physics or astronomy you would know that a ‘planet‘, even one as small as Mercury, couldn’t just sneak up on us with zero notice. We would see it coming, worst case 24-hours before it hits us. Planets are NOT small. And we, for the last ten years or more, have some fairly sophisticated, automated telescopic technology, around the world, funded by multiple countries, surveying and monitoring the sky for rogue objects likely to come near.

So, if we were going to be hit today, we would have known about it yesterday.

Jeez!

Sigmund Freud, Who Gave Us ‘Freudian’, Died This Day 78-Years Ago, In London — On September 23, 1939.

by Anura Guruge

By today’s standard’s pretty dramatic and catholic statement to make.

As some of YOU may recall it was Sigmund’s birthday on May 6 and I did a post to commemorate that. I covered many of the salient ‘facts’ there — the most personal of those being that I went to school with his grandson, that having been in London, which is where Freud did die.

So, this is essentially to mark the date. 78-years ago.

A Ton Of Cricket Coming Up on Willow TV — In My Case On Sling TV On Roku.

by Anura Guruge

From ‘willow.tv/fixtures’ — click to access.

IF you want LONGER list as a PDF.

A lot of cricket on Willow TV over the next few months — starting next week. Two Test Series BOTH of which should be good to watch: South Africa v Bangladesh & Pakistan v Sri Lanka. Starting September 28, 2017 I will have a backlog of cricket to watch — which might take me all the way into 2018! I will only watch the highlights BUT if there are two Test matches at the same time, that is 2 hours of cricket/day for 3 – 5 days (and NOTE how I did say 3-days!). I can, at best, only watch 1-hour/day so I will be in catch-up. Not complaining.

So, you have a heads-up. Go for it.

Willow TV is getting better. Sling not as much.

The Roku Rocks.

These are NOT flowers. I know that. Honest.

I am fairly sure that these are not flowers either.

On Route 28, in Barnstead, next to ‘Bosco Bell’. We go by there every time we go to Concord and I admire their display. Today I made a point of stopping to take some pictures. But, it was around 5pm and the light wasn’t great. Yes, I could make them better IF I ‘PhotoShopped’ — BUT, I don’t. {Smile}

All in our yard, towards the front. Took them all, in a hurry, in a space of about 4 minutes before leaving for Concord, around 4:30pm.
