I am sorry but these were all in our yard! What can I say. These are not only representative, but quite special and I just didn’t have time to venture out. 90% done on my latest book (#28) and when I get that close I become single minded. I want to get it done, published and dusted — especially because I have a 50% finished book (#29) in the wings (or at least on my PC).

Tanks Were Used In Battle, For The Very Time, This Day 101-Years Ago By (Of Course) THE British; September 15, 1916.

The British Mark I Tank

Battle of the Somme

WW I. Battle of the Somme. I remember reading about this and story behind how tanks were conceived at the start of the 20th century. Two BIG names, one on each side of the Atlantic, were involved: dear Winston Churchill and George S. Patton (who was the junior officer at the time). There was a fair amount of opposition to tanks at the start. They were thought to be UNGALLANT! An affront to the chivalry of the mounted cavalry — Patton having started his career in the 15th Cavalry.

The early tanks, as were to be expected, were not that successful. But they literally paved the way to the super tanks we have today — though I am fairly convinced that the days of the tanks are long gone. Yes, they were used in the Gulf, but that was a decade ago.

The German Flag Bearing The Dreaded Swastika Was First Unveiled This Day 82-Years Ago; September 15, 1935.

by Anura Guruge

82-years ago. Just 1-year after scumbag Hitler seized power. It replaced a rather ugly, black-white-red, horizontal stripe flag that had been used since 1933. (Shown to the right). Hitler had started using the swastika way back in the 1920s.

The swastika flag was ABOLISHED, by law, by the Allied Control Council at the end of WW II.

The black-red-yellow, horizontal stripe flag used today, by Germany, had been first been used between 1919 (after their defeat in WW I) till 1933.

Did The Russians Hack The “America’s Got Talent 2017” Voting For Ukrainian “Light Balance”?

by Anura Guruge

Do NOT get me wrong, in any way. I like the Ukrainian  high-tech “Light Balance” very much. I even gave them a plug, here, a few weeks ago.

They are pretty amazing and their show is truly mesmerizing. You have to hand it to them. Very clever. Very creative. Very high-tech.

I was, however, amazed that they beat-out the U.S. Air Force Academy “In the Stairwell”. Yes, they are NOT as different as “Light Balance” — but for love of apple pie & motherhood, we are talking fresh-faced, all American kids from the U.S. Air Force Academy!

I am a professional cynic, so the thought DID cross my mind as to whether the voting was hacked. Would not have been too difficult to do.

OK. So, that is off my chest.

Now back to “Light Balance”. I am NOT sure that an High Tech at such as this should be allowed to compete against people! With their act I am not sure how much is computer generated. Some of their moves could all be ANIMATION with their suit lights off. I just don’t think it is an apples-to-apples competition, people vs. computers. Think about it.

Just one, the first one with the peaches, from our yard! The rest from around here, with 1.5 miles of the house. So, I did go out to take these pictures. Also see the two in the September 14, 2017 pictures of the day.
