in “Bar Harbor” — after enjoying their
very good complimentary hot breakfast.
Our 4th time staying there.

The Canon Mirrorless M5’s Dual Controls On Top Much More Appealing To I Than The 80D’s Top LCD.

by Anura Guruge

m5top

The supposed Canon M5 top view. Click to access original and more details from “The New Camera”.

80dtop

The Canon 80D top view from Amazon.

Prior to owning a digital camera with a top LCD I lusted for one so much. It was one of my top criteria in opting for my ill fated Sony a77 Mk II. Once I got the a77 Mk II I quickly realized, within days, that I never used the top LCD! Why peer at the small LCD when you have a bigger, brighter 3″ LCD inches away. As of then I came to the conclusion that top LCDs are a waste of time, money and space — particularly the latter.

Give me a dedicated exposure compensation dial rather than a top LCD.

So the top layout on the Canon M5 is another feature going for it.

A Nikon 1″ On Viagra — Never Mind The Phallic Overtones, I Would Have To Get One.

I would NOT be able to resist this — and I know myself better than anybody else. That reach?

I have realized that I love my 15-day old Nikon P900. Today is day 15 and that is crucial in that I bought it from BestBuy rather than Amazon, BuyDig or Cameta. They have a 30-day return policy; BestBuy but 15. [Actually I took the precaution (always the belt-and-braces person I am) of buying it with my Discover card. They do offer a 90-day $500 guarantee.] I have NOT returned the P900. I am keeping it. One the easiest cameras to use that I have encountered in the last 2 years. Easier than your average compact, point-and-shoot. Yes, I will write a detailed review soon. I have taken 2,812 ‘keepable’ pictures in those 15 days; at an average of 187/day.

A P900 with a 1″ would be WONDERFUL and it would be in the same class as my old Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 and the Sony RX10s that I evaluated ad nauseum and never bought. The redoubtable FZ1000 has a 16x zoom. This Nikon puppy would have 4.6 times MORE. 75x. Not as much as the 83x on the P900, but 75x with a 1″ sensor would be formidable.

Yes, I would get this Nikon the day it is available irrespective of what other cameras I currently have. Most likely by then I would have, at a minimum, the P900 and a Canon 80D or M5. I would get this and give away the P900. Smile.

Trump Will Win New Hampshire & It Will Be A ‘Red Tide’ Come November 2016!

I hope I am wrong, but I don’t think so.

Hillary Clinton is NO Barack Hussein Obama II and Hillary’s continued stumbles, yesterday’s health flap among them, continue to weaken her case. And remember she did NOT carry New Hampshire in the primary. There are still a lot of disgruntled Bernie supporters lurking among the goldenrods.

Those that know me know that I am a keen, diligent and incisive observer of local politics — plus after all the door-to-door campaigning I did in 2008 & 2012 for Obama I can tell which way the winds are blowing when it comes to the Lakes Region.

I also carefully study political road signs. In my experience in New Hampshire (and that is the only state that I know in this matter) the presidential candidate with LESS SIGNS invariably wins the State! Check it out. In 2012 if you went by the blanketing of Romney signs across the State then Romney should have carried NH by a Landslide. Obama won NH by 40,659 votes in 2012 (and I knew he would). Yesterday, in Alton, I saw more Hillary signs than Trump. Not good. Trump supporters are NOT bothering with the signs because they don’t have to. Preaching to the choir and all of that.

So, you have been warned.
