When One Fitbit Just Isn’t Enough: Versa Lite & Inspire HR Side-by-Side On My Wrist.

by Anura Guruge

What can I say other than I was sent both the Fitbit Versa Lite and the Inspire HR, at the same time, for evaluation.

Yes, I am lucky. But, it is not all fun. I do have to test them carefully and write multiple reviews. So, this is work — though it is fun.

Yes, I am lucky. Right now I have: a Garmin Fenix 5 Plus, Fitbit Ionic, Amazfit Verge, Fitbit Versa Lite & Fitbit Inspire HR. There are two other Garmins in the house but they are not mine!

Mandala Of The Day, By Teischan (12) — March 20, 2019.

by Anura Guruge

Other than the circles, everything else is hand drawn.

What can I say! She creates one of these every couple of days. We have a large dining room table with multiple madalas lying on it — and some 30 on the walls.

This mandala has ‘gems’ glued to it. It is a true work of art. I really must do something with it,

Enjoy.

My Friend & Neighbour, ‘Drew Tuttle’ WINS The ‘Last Chance Boston Qualifier’ Marathon In Grand Rapids, MI.

WOW. WOW. WOW.

Coming FIRST in a marathon! And pretty impressive time too — 2 hours 40 minutes. Just 20 minutes shy of the winning time at the 2018 Boston marathon.

He is young. Very early 20s. I have known him since he was about 12.

I see him running most days. Sometimes I am also running, but he makes me look like I am walking backwards. Extremely thin and superbly fit. He would run 12 miles a day without thinking about it while I suffer running my 3.5 miles.

Family of exceptional runners — father & two sons; Drew the elder of the two. Father, John, is the long distance running coach at our local high school. He has run the Boston Marathon numerous times — including the year of the bombing. This year Drew will be running. I am so excited and happy.

I have talked to Drew about the Olympics. That might now be possible.

This is so great.

He runs by our house most mornings while I am still in bed. I know he is going by because the dogs go crazy.

This made my day.

Samsung ‘Galaxy Active’ Smartwatch Gets A Far From Favorable Review At ‘Gizmodo’!

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access GIZMODO review.

Wow. Not good.

For many, including I, the ‘Health Tracking‘ is the primary rationale for getting a smartwatch like this.

As she says, the good news is that this is all software-related and Samsung will be able to fix it with new versions of the firmware.

Glad I did not rush off and get one as I had originally thought of doing.

I am now waiting to check out the Garmin MARQ Explorer.

Is Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella Still ‘Thanking God’, Non-Stop, For His Current Form?

Another example. Note hand is higher. Closer to grill.

Haven’t had a chance to see his over-the-top, near-obnoxious constant crossing of himself of late since he hasn’t been at the crease for long. Just 2-balls in the first T20I against South Africa yesterday. I have always said he should be consistent. He should thank God even when he is out — cheaply. He can’t have it both ways. If he is stupid enough to believe that God helps him score runs, then he also has to accept that God must want him gone when he gets out and has to start walking back.

He was even dropped from the side. He must have been beside himself. I can just see him. On his knees praying.

Poor guy. If he wasn’t so obnoxious he could be quite a decent bugger.

Cracks Me Up When I Get A Royalty Cheque For TECHNOLOGY Books I Wrote 15 Years Ago!

by Anura Guruge

Happens this time every year. It comes out of the blue.

I am NOT complaining. It is NOT a big check BUT it can keep me in for 2-weeks. That is better than a kick-in-the-teeth any day of the week.

If these were NOT technology books it wouldn’t crack me up at all. But, these are books that are now 60% out-of-date! Yes, some of the basic principles will still be the same but a lot of water flows under the bridge over the course of 15-years when it comes to technology.

These books have a ‘Look Inside‘ capability and people can return them. That I am still getting royalties mean that people must still find some value in them. That pleases me. These were good books when I wrote them.

I also got pretty decent advances on each of the books. So, I am pleased. I am smiling.

SMILE.
