We got the British Green 1968 MGB on September 14, 2014. So in October it started its 2nd year with us, especially in terms of registration and inspection stickers.
This time around we took the MGB to B-Boys of Barnstead — the best mechanics, for miles, in our opinion. This was the first time that Paul Bousquet, the owner of B-Boys, had seen the MGB. Given that he is very thorough and conscientious he found a TON of bodywork that had to be fixed. We had to leave it with Paul for nearly 10 days! We missed it not seeing it in the garage.
Last year I just did not have time to go down to Concord to get NH Antique plates. This year we made time. We dropped the plates off with Paul Monday evening. Today we picked it up (though to be fair to Paul it was ready yesterday afternoon). So now it sports, for the first time, NH Antique plates — and by that virtue has an inspection sticker valid till April 2017. So we are happy. It wasn’t cheap BUT it wasn’t a total arm-and-leg either. Just a few fingers and toes.
Paul joked as to how many thousands of miles we planned to drive it before it is back for its inspection in April 2017. He knew. We will be lucky IF we drive 500 miles in total! Now that we have the V-12 Jaguar XJS convertible we don’t drive the MGB much — just enough to keep it ticking over.

Just because I didn’t buy my Panasonic Lumix FZ1000 from Amazon does not, in anyway or shape, mean that I do not buy stuff from Amazon on a frequent (and I really don’t want to claim ‘daily’) basis. So, when I saw the new Kindle Fire, at the low-ball advertised price, I was tempted. Not for me. I am a 10″ guy. But Deanna had been angling for a pad and this seemed like a good deal.
Well, the advertised price is a ‘starter’. Once you add an option or two and get a case you are at $90 — BUT that is still NOT bad, ALBEIT this is not a bona fide Android Pad. So there is NO Chrome browser. Instead there is Amazon’s Silk browser. But it was worth a try.
I pre-ordered it and Amazon to its credit had it delivered by UPS on Wednesday, September 30, 2015 — as promised. So we had one on Day 1 of availability. Neat. Actually that was also the case with our first in July 2012. I had pre-ordered that too and it came on Day 1 — as Google had promised.
So far so good. It is cute. Nice nice. Sharp, crisp display — as they claim. Seems fast too. Amazon Cloud Storage included.
So not a bad buy.
They are — BUY 5 get one FREE, for a total of 6. Was I tempted? Aaaahhhhh! Maybe come Black Friday (or thereabouts). Maybe I will get a DOZEN! It would be FUN to give some to deserving kids (and have ONE in the car, dedicated to GPS). SMILE.

Items on sale right now … as I write …
I guess I kind of knew that eBay was doing this. I had, however, never checked it out.
Today I had an e-mail from eBay reminding me to check out the Live Auctions.
I did. Wow.
I can see how it could become awfully addictive. I shied away. I could so easily get suckered in. It could be like my option trading addiction — though the HUGE difference is that with my option trading I don’t spend, let alone lose, any money. But these auctions could become a huge drain of funds. Nothing I need … I am sure. But, I see a Rolex and the fingers start itching to bid. But so far, so good. Temptation under control. SMILE.
But just thought I will let YOU know in case YOU want to indulge.

Paddy & Ashley, as many of you know, are also part of “The Brigadoons” — one of our all time favorite groups.
There are 4 videos of this “East Hawkesbury Church” performance on YouTube. This is video 2 and I am featuring it because it has Paddy singing, solo, and that is ALWAYS a treat. He has such a deep, resonant and undiscordant voice. I can listen to Paddy for hours (and sometimes do). Enjoy. This is a treat.
P.S., Paddy also sings on the 3rd video.
