Of course all Christmas parades, by definition, are good. So that was the case here too though it lacked some of the key elements we had come to expect of late — viz. NO Kingswood High School Band led by Bobby Burns, NO Wolfeboro trademark large ‘puppets’ and NO Mrs. Claus. Yes, it was a dank & dreary day — more like Hampshire (in England) in November as opposed to New England. Last year we sloshed through snow. This year rain.

It was a new bachelor Santa with no Mrs. Yes, somebody very kindly gave me the low down BUT I am not going to divulge it. Personal. Just that we are so used to seeing BOTH Mr. & Mrs. It was still fun. Not sure why it was not up to the usual snuff. Could be the weather. The band might not have wanted to perform in the rain — given the damage it could do to the expensive instruments. But here are some of the pictures. Enjoy. It was good to see a LOT of people we knew.

Merry Christmas.

One of the COMMENTS against the “Daily Mail” article and this is ONE of my arguments too.

First and foremost, and I am deadly serious here, there is the SMALL matter of I!

My life is FAR FROM PERFECT but I would argue and set out to prove that I am HAPPIER, any day of the week, any day of the year, than this monk.

I am NOT joking.

He and I agree on ONE THING and that is that one can train one’s brain to be happy. So between he and I what we are DUKING it out is who has the better brain training system. I contend that I have. Why?

Because unlike this guy, and as the COMMENT above highlights, I am HAPPY leading a full, ‘normal’ life — WITH A SPOUSE & CHILDREN — and I HAVE SEX! Yes, that definitely COMES into it and the pun was very intentional. Orgasms, for both sexes, are an important factor in being truly happy.

Check this guy out. He was a recluse. Ran away from life.

He is NOT happy. He is content. There is a HUGE difference. You can be content being unhappy. Trust me you can.

And then there is the TWO-SIDED issue about how happy a Buddhist monk can really be.

One of Buddha’s fundamental teachings is that we ALL SUFFER because of our fondness to attachments — which also includes family.

IF you want to be happy without attachments GO AHEAD be my guest. I would rather be unhappy and have some attachments.

Plain and simple. This guy by a LONG CHALK is NOT the happiest man in the World. I might NOT be the happiest BUT I will sure argue and prove that I am HAPPIER than he is — any day of the week.

Simple question. Just ask him. When did he last have an orgasm with another person — ideally of the opposite sex.

After seeing my post about the deep discount on the Lytro Illum Devanee wants me to get one. To be fair, as I did point out, it did cross my mind that I probably should get one at ‘that’ price — though the current ‘non-rebate’ price is $449. So when Devanee says I should get one all the domestic dynamics change! Devanee is nobody’s fool when it comes to cars and cameras! She has worked it out that IF she encourages my taste then she can benefit from that. And there is no harm in that — and she has an MGB and a Canon Rebel T3i to prove it, with another Jag to come!

So when Devanee says I should get one … the mother stays mum. Plus Deanna is convinced that I am going to get ANOTHER camera for Christmas! She has come to the conclusion, I do not know how or why, that I am addicted to cameras. Am I?

I really, really wasn’t going to get another one this year. Seriously. But now that Devanee says I should get a Lytro Illum …

Did some reading on the Lytro Illum last night. Kind of what I suspected. It appears to be pretty USELESS in the two areas that matter most to me … landscape and low light.

But the whole notion of REFOCUS appeals to me — tremendously. Plus I am a great fan of Panasonic since my Lumix FZ1000 proved to be such a huge success. I realize that the Panasonic Lumix DMC-G7 is the BIG BOY version of my FZ1000. But I really don’t want to get into interchangeable lenses again with anything LESS than APSC. Hence my PLAN to wait for the Fuji X-T2

But then there is the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-FZ300K! Great ZOOM up to 600mm, 5 axis stabilization and a CONSTANT max. aperture of f2.8. This camera — now with REFOCUS via firmware — could BE perfect for me BUT for the sensor size. 1/2.3″ sensor. YIKES. That is SO, SO SMALL. But then again 99% of the pictures I take are for use on the Web. I can get away with a small sensor. OK. If on Cyber Monday, i.e., tomorrow, or before Christmas, I see the FZ300 BELOW $500 I will get one.

Promos for this show comes up when we watch ‘Americas Funniest Videos‘ (AFV), probably the ONLY broadcast TV show we watch on a regular basis. Yesterday I set up the DVR to record the series. As YOU know we are suckers for “The Great British Bake Off” and have already finished watching Season 6 on YouTube because we couldn’t wait for it to appear on PBS.

I have heard mixed stories, mainly unflattering, about the US ‘spin off’ (and I will refrain from calling it the ‘rip off’). I note that Paul Hollywood, the MALE co-star of the BBC version, is MISSING. That alone is a huge difference. Paul, of course, with his pithy comments adds so much to the show and he KNOWS his baking. Having a non-baker as the male co-star might not work.

We will see. So a heads up.

Good News. Open House is OPEN TODAY, Sunday, November 29, 2015.
Do yourself a FAVOR and GO.
North Barnstead Road.

** ** ** ** **

“Sawyer’s Open House” craft fair is now on our MANDATORY annual list. It is one of Deanna’s favorite events of late. We have been going, without fail, for the last 4 years (at least). So it was no different yesterday, Saturday, November 28, 2015 — start of the post Thanksgiving Weekend. Though we had a number of things to do, Wolfeboro Christmas Parade and Christmas Tree Lighting among them, per Deanna we had to first go to Sawyer’s — and that, of course, is what we did.

It is always a delight and an unqualified pleasure. I love taking pictures there. So much color, design, form and creativity. Deanna and the kids do the shopping. It is funny. I looked at my pictures from 2013 and 2014. I take the same pictures each year BECAUSE I like the subject, e.g., Steve Barton’s magnificent ‘Wavy Frame’ orange farm (above and below).

Wonderful place. GREAT people (and they take credit cards). Go. IF you get to within 5 miles YOU will find signs. SMILE. So here are some of my pictures.

Enjoy.

CLOSE to capturing my fondness for it.
