The Cynic I Am, I Can’t Help Wondering Whether PC Security Companies Had A Hand In The Ransomware Attacks.

Yes, yes, yes … I know that this is an old chestnut and that there are plenty of posts, including determinations by ‘Snopes‘, that antivirus companies are SO ETHICAL (and atypical) that they would never even dream of doing anything so underhand.

But, I am an out-and-out cynic and I have been involved with computers for 48-years.

Yes, I could be wrong — totally wrong.

This, however, is something that has crossed my mind.

It would be so easy to do — surreptitiously. All ‘you’ would have to do is find a few hackers, on the ‘Dark Web’, on the quiet.

Let’s hope I am WRONG.

But, I have long maintained that security software that we install on our PCs represents the BIGGEST malware we have on our PCs! We give them carte blanche to see everything we do, communicate with impunity with a ‘mothership’ and install updates willy nilly!

Just something to think about. Being a cynic does have advantages.

Today MIGHT Be Everest Conqueror Tenzing Norgay’s Birthday — BUT He Chose It To Be May 29, 1914.

As a Mount Everest NUT since I was a teenager, Tenzing Norgay has been one of my abiding heroes. I think he was quite the man — exemplary.

After considerable pondering and looking at the facts I also believe that he probably reached the peak ahead of Edmund Hillary — though that is now essentially a moot point.

I will have to remember to commemorate his birthday on May 29. So, we think he was born 103 years ago.

IF ‘they’, i.e., PBS, told us that ‘Home Fires‘ Season 2 will end last Sunday with Episode 6, I missed it.

This weekend I kept on looking for it. Then worked out that it must have ended. A quick Web search confirmed that.

Wow. Episode 6, quite literally, ended with quite the BANG! So there will most likely be a Season 3 — though it might not be for a long time. There was a 17-month gap between Seasons 1 and 2.

Episode 6 should be available online.

Just wanted to make sure you did not miss it.

Canadian ‘Ballerina’ [Renamed ‘Leap!’] 2016 Movie: Unexpectedly Good & Enchanting With High-Quality Animation.

This proved to be an incredibly good and endearing animated movie.

The animation was top notch and I just assumed it was Disney. It was not. This is a Canadian movie with collaboration.

The animation, especially the fast-paced sequences are as good as anything done by Disney or Dreamworks — possibly better!

Usual Disney ‘tear-jerker‘ storyline — orphans overcoming adversity to excel. Some parallels to 1997 Anastasia — given that Paris figures heavily in both movies.

I had NOT heard of this movie.

The renaming was confusing.

But, definitely, indubitably, a good, compelling Disney-genre film. Kids 8 – 12 would lap it up.

Glad we stumbled upon it serendipitously.
