‘We’, and by that I mean Deanna, only heard about, on Facebook, where else, on Wednesday. She told me about it when she brought up my morning coffee. We decided to go on the spur of the moment. Glad we went. It was an experience. Kind of fun. Not as spectacular as one would hope or like. Just one ship. Not that tall and not that big and NOT under sail. But, it was a replica of a 170′ late 16th century ship — and I, about 20 years ago, built a plastic kit model of one of these, for Matthew, my son.

It wasn’t as packed as we thought it would be. Free parking, on Pierce Island, Portsmouth, was available. There was an impressive rain squall just around 4pm. We got slightly damp though we took shelter under various trees. But it cleared and the sun was out as the El Galeón Andalucía started coming in — as the pictures testify.

I would go to see it, if I were you. Not sure you need to get a ticket. You can see it plenty good just from the bridge to Pierce Island and from all public points all around. Just a thought.
