It is another of the wonderful and very generous ‘Giles Series of Performances‘. Last February it was the “Red Hot Chilli Pipers” which nearly blew the roof away. Then in April 2014 they had “Ballroom with a Twist“.

Russian ballet is legendary. The State Ballet Theatre of Russia is way up there and the Prima Ballerina is from the Bolshoi. Trust me it doesn’t get any better than this — even at the ‘Nutcracker‘ by the Boston Ballet. I have seen ballets by the Bolshoi a number of times — once in Moscow itself. Plus as I chronicled here, it a Russian ballet troupe, performing in Ceylon, c. 1961, where the Prima Ballerina kept of having a major wardrobe malfunction right in front on me, no more than 10′ away, that engendered my lifelong fascination with ballet — though I have never seen a major malfunction in the intervening half century.

Teischan is into ballet. Has been doing it, with ‘Northeastern Ballet‘ for 2 years. So this will be special for her. Two major ballet shows in 2 months. I am glad.

We are taking the same friend that we take to see the ‘Nutcracker’ in Wolfeboro each year. She an ex-teacher is now incapacitated by diabetes. It was taking her to the new ‘Anderson Hall‘ in Wolfeboro this December that made us, and the relevant authorities, realize how handicap unfriendly this new Hall is. She as an ex-teacher, who has taken many a school party to the CCA in Concord, is very familiar with its layout. She told us what seats to get for her. We did.

Just to give you a reference re. time.

As I post this at 5:44 pm (17:44) U.S. Eastern Time it is 10:44 pm (22:44) GMT. 5 hour difference.

Sri Lanka time, and given that the island is only 110 miles wide at its widest, there is only one time zone is GMT+5:30.

That 30 minutes is crucial. An inspired touch by the British that I am ALWAYS grateful for. Thank YOU. Those 30 minutes ensure that sunrise, most days is pretty close to 6 am. Anybody who has been to Hawaii will appreciate what I am getting at.

So as I write this it is 4:18 am (04:18) in the morning of Tuesday, January 13, 2015.

Pope will land in Colombo, actually about 3o miles north of Colombo, in about 4:30 hours.

Click to ENLARGE. From Yahoo Finance. NOIEX for the same period as above compared with one of my other stalwarts AMG YACKTMAN FUND. But remember YACKX is NOT an income fund. It is a growth fund. But they have tracked roughly the same. I use YACKX to complement NOIEX.

So NOEIX since the distribution is down $0.02 on the NAV. That is 0.16%.

For that same period the S&P is down 0.80%.

So if ANYTHING NOIEX has held is own.

I promised that I will track NOIEX during the early part of the year. Well, I am doing just that. The market as you know has been crazy. Basically going sideways in fluctuations. I have not changed my positions in NOIEX. That will keep both Fidelity and NOIEX happy. They can’t accuse me of short-term or excessive trading in NOIEX. I will again have a hard look at it around the 24th, after the January dividend and the ECB rate decisions. The market should, with luck, have found some direction by then,

So for now, I will just sit tight, unless, of course, you have something definitely more promising than NOIEX in which to stick that cash.
