Current New Hampshire Driver’s Licenses, WITHOUT ‘REAL ID’, Still Good For Domestic Air Travel Till October 2020!

by Anura Guruge

There had been much talk and rumors that current New Hampshire driver’s licenses, which are NOT ‘Real ID‘ compliant, will cease to be valid for domestic air travel as of June 2016.

Then in January 2016 the NH House passed a bill that would allow NH residents to get, if they so wish, ‘Real ID’ compliant driver’s licenses.

Now, according to NH DMV you will have the option of asking for these ‘Real ID’ licenses starting as of January 1, 2017. I am delighted. I will need a new license in September 2017. So I can get a ‘Real ID’ license then.

The even better news is that I will NOT need a ‘Real ID’ license to fly, within the U.S., till 2020. That is great. So it will all work out quite nicely.

Here are two useful references, one from “Homeland Security (TSA)” and the other from “NH DMV“. Use the links here to access the originals. Click on images to ENLARGE and read here.
