The picture says it all. They put synthetic oil in it and get me to have it changed every 5,000 miles. The last oil change was nearly a year ago! Yes, I put less than 5K on it last year!

Had to take the 2002 Jaguar XJ8 for an oil change at ‘B-Boys‘ on Gray Road, Barnstead, New Hampshire. Given that it takes 20-minutes to get home from ‘B-Boys‘ I didn’t see what I would gain, in terms of time, if I got a ride back home while they were doing the oil change. Instead, I decided I will go for a long walk, rather than doing my morning run, while the car was being serviced. So I walked down Gray Road and into Province Road. Walked about 4 miles. Quite the walk. Took these pictures during that jaunt in 80°F.

This was my first time to scenic Monhegan Island, Maine — 10 miles from the mainland. Having been to the Cranberry Isles, in Maine, off Acadia, a few weeks earlier I knew I would find flowers on Monhegan and I was not disappointed. However, to my disappointment, the lupins were gone! I learnt, from an artist in Boothbay Harbor prior to departing to Monhegan, that Lupins are only in their glory for 3-weeks max and that they are biennial (i.e., each plant only blooms every other year).

Monhegan, with its scenic and inspiring setting, has been a home and refuge for many an artist over the centuries. During the day you are tripping over painters, even on the rocks. So, suffice to say there are some very carefully planted and tended gardens and flowerbeds not counting nature’s unshabby displays. More to come. Stay tuned.

My first trip to Boothbay Harbor, Maine, Bar Harbor, Maine my usual destination. Interesting, bustling place. Real busy harbor. A lot happening and some good eateries.

I expected flowers but was pleasantly surprised by the profusion. Also some tropical flowers. Very colorful. Added to the overall pizzazz of the place. I was impressed.

It, alas, is again that time of year — I have to go for my dreaded annual physical, where I will get told off for how unhealthy I am, and told to lose more weight, get my cholesterol down and that I should watch my diet. Given that I like to get much of the bad news done face-to-face I insist that I get my blood tests done before I go to meet with the doctor. So it was time to get my blood tests done. Hence, Huggins — despite them once screwing up my PSA test by stating that I was a woman.

Well going to Huggins on a Sunday morning to get your blood tests is not a bad idea. Place was deserted. Did NOT see a single other ‘patient’. No lines. Just I.

Huggins always has a good show of flowers in the Summer. So I was banking on taking some pictures. They have more in the back but I literally didn’t have the energy to make it to the back since I had fasted for 15 hours.

I was not planning to take any pictures of flowers in our yard today. Had already take some flower pictures in Wolfeboro. But, I was surprised at how lovely the flowers were and could not resist taking some pictures since our will be, alas, over soon! Also check out the posts from July 7, July 4, July 10, July 13 & July 19, 2017.

Anura Guruge Alton Lakes Mid-Summer Flowers Sony a7 II 2017 New Hampshire

This is ‘our’ lake in that we have beach rights to it and during July/August, weather permitting, I try to go to it around 6pm for a quick 100 yard swim and a quiet read by the water. Invariably I have a camera with me. This year we don’t have as much flowers at the lake as in previous years. Hence these few — plus I screwed up a couple more.
