Taking Selfies My Way — Day #23 Post-Knee Surgery — March 30, 2019.

I actually took these pictures to show-off the close and comfortable shave I managed to get with the new Gillette SkinGuard razor. Then, I realized that these were also ‘selfies my way‘.

So, here is what is kooky. This is the mirror in MY bathroom. I have never taken a ‘selfies my way‘ using that mirror — and it is the mirror I spend most time in front of! That is typical I. Well, now I have rectified it.

Yes, I am topless. Bottomless too. I am not exactly shy.

Well 3-weeks post surgery and I am still around. Sorry.

Taking Selfies My Way — Part XXIX; Portsmouth‘ Cinemagic Yet Again — July 5, 2018.

No post-processing whatsoever!

Anura Guruge selfie portrait July 5 2018 Portsmouth New Hampshire

Those familiar with my idiosyncratic ‘taking selfies my way’ must know by now that I cannot resist the large mirrors at the ‘Cinemagic’, Portsmouth, NH. This set, from what I gather is at least the 4th this year. This was from yesterday when we went to see the latest ‘Jurassic World‘ movie.

At my age, of course, I have to use the restrooms at cinemas at least twice a show. Once before and once after. I invariably luck out in that I find myself alone. Then I cannot resist. Sadly, they are all beginning to look alike.

Taking Selfies My Way — Part XXVIII; Alton ‘Estate Sales’ — June, 2018.

No post-processing whatsoever!

Today was our ‘Town Wide Yard Sale‘ day. Though we really didn’t want (or need) anything we decided to hit a few places mainly out of nostalgia given that we used to be avid yard sale pickers a few years ago.

This year there were two huge ‘Estate Sales’ taking place too — one associated with somebody we knew. These two pictures were taken at these two Estate Sales; one at each.

The mirror I used in the second picture was old and mottled. It gave the picture an interesting ‘sheen’. The other mirror was new and spotless. Couldn’t resist. Had to be quick. The places were packed and buzzing.

Teischan (11) Embellishes Her Painted Hamster Cage Table.

Teischan has a problem common to many artists. She is not sure when one of her works is done. She — and we — thought the table was done by Sunday night. Appears it was not the case. Yesterday, after school, she had the inspiration to add these ‘black’ trees (or I think that that is what they are). I must confess they do add some je ne sais quoi.

In the late 1970s, while working for IBM, I was extremely fortunate in getting to spend some time with the GREAT British painter, conservationist and rail enthusiast David Shepard. One night over some drinks, in a pub, he told me his secret as to when he knew when one of his masterpieces of done. He would look at it, over his shoulder, using a mirror. If it looked right in the mirror he knew it was done.

No, no. Not a Teischan creation, BUT one of David’s most commercially successful paintings.
