My New Hampshire, The ‘Live Free Or Die State’, Opts To Let Callous Murderers Live.
Those of you who are even marginally familiar with this blog must realize that I usually have an opinion on most things — and often claim to be able to clearly appreciate both sides of a divisive argument. Not so, in the case of the former, when it comes to the Death Penalty.
It is kind of weird. The death penalty, one way or the other, moves me none. Just leaves me cold; inured. Maybe it is because I can’t really relate to it.
But, I do understand the emotions and logic from both sides. But, what is best for society? Is the death penalty a deterrent? I would guess statistics will show otherwise. All I know is that it is EXPENSIVE with all the appeals and pleas for pardon. It takes decades.
It is curious that WE with our famous ‘Live Free or Die‘ motto voted for this. So, what we are saying is that it is OK to languish in prison for life, rather than be put to death. That seems to be contrary to what the motto says on face value. SMILE.
