The 1st Test, West Indies v England, in Barbados, was something else. WOW. What a match. What sterling performances. 202* by Jason Holder no less. I like Jason, so this was good. Also Shane Dowrich. 116* by him.

England went in facing a target of 628 runs. 628 runs. This by the ‘modern’ West Indies. Hard to believe but true.

I kept on waiting for them to collapse as they so often have done in the last decade. Darren Bravo’s return didn’t impress. And in the 2nd innings they did collapse to 6-120. I expected the worse at that point. Then a 295 run, unbroken, stand. WOW. Just like the old days.

It was so amazing to watch. Just like the West Indians on the 1970s, 1980s and early 1990s.

Lets hope that this new found form and purpose continues. It will do us, the long-suffering supporters, a world of good.
