A truly historic, iconic and charming place — well worth the $19M I think. It is all supposedly going to charity per the longstanding philanthropy of the Rockefeller family to the Acadia area starting with his father, the GREAT John D. Rockefeller who built the amazing Acadia Carriage Roads and the spectacular Lodges. See the family tree, that I augmented, below. I had to see it visually since I get confused as to which Rockefeller did what particularly so because there is also ‘David Jr.’ whose is still very active in the Acadia area.

While I have not seen the house I am very familiar with ‘the point‘ it is on. I visit it often since one of my favorite micro-hikes, the ‘Cooksey Drive Overlook‘ with its superb panoramic views, is there. This is an area with some of the most exclusive mansions of the area — including that once owned by Martha Stewart.

David Rockefeller died, three months short of his 102nd birthday, on March 20, 2017. This is was precipitated this sale his children not wanting it since they have other places around Acadia! It has to be nice.
