Donald Trump Incensed With ‘Washington Post’ Claims (Inaccurately) That Amazon Has ‘No-Tax Monopoly’.

This is essentially FAKE NEWS on the part of the President.

As of April 2017 Amazon is collecting Internet sales tax on shipments to ALL states that have a sales tax. That is an irrefutable tax. So for Trump to claim that Amazon has a ‘no-tax monopoly’ is wrong.

Yes, prior to April 2017, Amazon like so many other online retailers did not collect (and handover) sales tax to states that had such a tax. But, Amazon did not have a monopoly and the whole issue of Internet-tax has yet to be fully thrashed out yet.

So, yes, it is true that Amazon in the past was ‘no-tax’.

And yes it is still true that Amazon does NOT force 3rd-party sellers on Amazon from charging sales tax. It probably should to be consistent and avoid Trump having a sliver of an excuse.

Well, as I said just a few days ago, Trump’s vendetta against the Jeff Bezos owned ‘The Washington Post’ could BEGIN to harm Amazon — though AMZN hit an all time HIGH on Monday!
