The First Ever Atomic Bomb Was Exploded This Day, July 16, 72-Years Ago — In 1945.

The code name ‘Trinity’ seems ironic, though it is more than likely than Oppenheimer & co. did feel to an extent that they were playing God — given the nature of what they were working.
‘The Gadget‘, the bomb tested on July 16, 1945, was plutonium-based. It was the prototype of the ‘Fat Man‘ bomb detonated over Nagasaki, 24-days later. That was the 2nd nuclear bomb. The first, of course, was over Hiroshima, 3-days prior to Nagasaki. That was an uranium-based bomb. So Hiroshima took place exactly 3-weeks from this day 72-years ago.

Possibility Of ‘Northern Lights’ (Aurora Borealis) Over New Hampshire TONIGHT, Sunday, July 16, 2017.
This is per the in Boston — albeit based on an experimental forecast model.
However, from everything else I have seen, at places like spaceweather.com, there appears to be a very good chance and the weather will cooperate over New Hampshire.
It is possible that we might see the lights earlier but we most likely will still have ‘dusk’ (as opposed to to ‘dust’) till past 8pm.
So, if you can make sure to go out and take a gander.

These were shot from the balcony of our room at the ‘Wonder View Inn‘ with my Nikon P900. I checked the distance on a map. Straight line it is close to 4 miles.
Read this post for more about Superzooms shots with the Nikon P900 during this last trip to Acadia.
I have been by the Egg Rock Lighthouse by boat.
So, I do have some real close-ups. That was in June 2015 with a Canon T3i.

And this was in the June 2017 trip, shot from ‘Schooner Head‘ (one of our favorite haunts) with my Sony a7 II.

This was in our yard, this afternoon around 12:30pm. I was out with my Sony a7 II (which I had not used for a week) when I saw these ‘guys’ in action. They sure were having fun. Rolling on their back to collect the pollen. I should have used my motor-drive, BUT I didn’t. I rarely do. I like to get my own timing.

Flowers Of ‘Home Depot’, Rochester, New Hampshire — July 15, 2017.

Home Depot, irrespective of location, does a good job, in New Hampshire, in the Summer, of having an extensive collection of flowering plants. The Rochester branch (the nearest Home Depot to us) had outdone themselves today. It was visually mesmerizing. Stunning. Bravo! Thank you. We did think about buying more flowers but our yard, this Summer, is doing fairly well — as you have seen from my pictures. Enjoy.
