This was Serendipitous to say the least. Yes, I arranged for this ‘Dragon Parade‘ to take place in Concord for the 2017 ‘Multicultural Festival‘ but I was NOT supposed to he heading it. The plan was that it would be headed by a Chinese who knew how to ‘dance’ the head. And that is how we set off. The tall, lanky gentleman behind me, on the second pole, at the head. I had the second pole so I could tell him which way to go. BUT, the head is heavy and it was windy and holding it up, while being buffeted by the wind, gets hard. So, halfway through we asked me if I would swap. I wasn’t going to say NO. It was a blast and rare honor. Not sure whether I will ever get the chance again. This is the only picture I have.
This, however, was not the first time I have headed a Chinese Dragon Parade. I had done it, in 2015, with this same dragon, at the UNH ‘Confucius Institute‘, Chinese New Year Miaohui (Temple Fair) celebrations.
