2016 Chinese New Year, ‘Year Of The Red Monkey’, February 8th — Boston Chinatown Dragon Parade February 21?
As soon as the January 1 New Year is out of the way I start thinking about the next New Year that I can celebrate — and that is invariably the Chinese New Year. We like the Chinese New Year, now that we have got it all sorted out (we think).
The 2016 New Year per se is on Monday, February 8th.
But as I have often pointed out the New Year celebrations span at least 15 days and encompass TWO (2) Sundays. In the U.S. the public celebrations — i.e., the famous Dragon Parades and firecrackers — are typically on the 2nd Sunday. That means February 21, 2016 this year. I will confirm this for Boston Chinatown in the next couple of weeks. I will also find out what other events are taking place in New Hampshire. So stay tuned.
