For the last 10 days or so, UNTIL Monday, August 3, 2015, Amazon, to my consternation, was claiming that they were SHIPPING units — albeit via resellers, ‘Beach Camera‘ one of them. 

This bothered me because I knew that even Sony USA did NOT have any units to ship in the U.S. as yet. I am on a wait list at Sony.

On Friday I took Amazon to task for MISREPRESENTING availability and for POSTING BOGUS reviews. Yes, that was Friday. Monday morning they changed their tune!

Also this is KEY. Amazon is ONLY listing itself as the supplier. I am DELIGHTED. IF I was getting a Sony RX10 II, or for that matter any camera, from Amazon, I want one “shipped from and sold by Amazon”. I trust Amazon and I know they will take it back at the HINT of a problem.

I am also skeptical about the Sony RX10 II BUNDLES that are being offered. Tell me I am wrong, but I get a feeling that they OPEN the Sony box. I do not want a $1,300 camera in a box that has been open.

Interesting that ‘Beach Camera’ that is offering a Sony RX10 II bundle on Amazon is admitting, on its site, that they are only accepting pre-orders.

 

I will, of course, let you know as soon as the Sony RX10 II becomes available in the U.S. Promise.
