He, Carlos Brathwaite, with his quite brilliant & incredible maiden ODI century had got the asking rate down to BELOW a run-per-ball. They only had one (damn) wicket left.
They had a 7 balls in which to get 6 runs.
Carlos goes for the glory shot.
This was classic Munda Logic. He can’t help it. He is programmed as such.
Now, I can empathize, though I as a cricketer was a true midget compared to Carlos’ occasional bouts of being an outworldly giant. Yes, I have swung the bat way too many times when I did not have too. But, I was never playing in the World Cup or in a match that we had to win.
This was so, so, so unnecessary and he knew it AFTER he did it. That is Munda logic. It never occurred to him beforehand.
C’est la vie. Both teams played liked pillocks. I am ashamed on both.
Good world cup. Good matches and more to come.
But, Brathwaite … WHY?
He will have nightmares for weeks to come. And he should.
Watching ANY cricket on ‘Hotstar’ is extremely depressing & frustrating because they show the results in the program description! They can’t help it. ‘Hotstar’ is the most unprofessional and dishonest company in the known Universe.
They also have decided that 23-minutes is the optimum length for a highlights package. Oh, they are not too smart either. Just smart when it comes to dishonesty.
The cricket has been outstanding. Hotstar spoils it.
I have just learnt that the 2019 World Cup will be on Hotstar. Jesus wept. They will totally screw it up.
Sir Viv Richards, ‘The Master Blaster’ Turned 65 Today. Happy Birthday, Viv. Thanks For All The Joy.
What a MAN!
Because of Viv, I still remember that glorious, Sun-soaked Summer of 1976.
I was at Lord’s for the 1979 World Cup and saw him bat
with Collis King.
Saw him, live, quite a bit in Somerset, Hampshire and at Lord’s.
Happy Birthday Viv.

It is frigging amazing how much disservice we get on Roku/Sling when it comes to cricket.
Willow managed to ruin the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 with their inability to show the correct matches.
And now ‘One World Sports’ has caught the bug.
2nd Test Day 2 highlights were not broadcast on Saturday night — in the allocated 10pm slot!
On Sunday, in the 10pm slot allocated for Day 3 highlights, they showed Day 2! Actually they showed Day 2 highlights — TWICE, back-to-back, 9pm and 10pm!
Couldn’t even see Day 3 highlights Monday morning. Yet again they are showing Day 2 when the Program Guide says Day 3.

I watched the entire game, every single ball, LIVE. I got out of bed at 9am (crack of dawn for me) to make sure that I was downstairs, in front of my 47″ HDTV screen, ready for the match.
It was one heck of a game. Towards the end, it was so good, I really didn’t care who won.
But you have to admit that the 51% to 49% in favor of West Indies that I predicted two days ago truly reflected the outcome and the match.
Do I regret my scathing comments on Marlon Samuels. Not really. He did OK. But that is what he is payed to do. Let’s not forget that. HE did NOT win the match. Carlos Brathwaite WON the match. 19 off the last over (a T20 final record) would have been beyond Marlon’s reach or for that matter most of the others in the team. So do NOT tell me that Samuels got the Windies to victory. His innings was scratchy. Yes, he held it together but he didn’t score fast enough.
In many ways it was a FLUKE victory. Four 6s in a row. That was a lot to ask for.
But in the end I am delighted. Happy for the likes of Carlos. Made my day. Glad I watched it live.
I only had it 50% right. I said back on Monday, March 28, 2016, way ahead of the Semi Finals that it would most likely be India vs. England.
That India lost at home, by 7 wickets — albeit with just 2 balls to spare is pretty hard to fathom, even now. Lendl Simmons, Johnson Charles & Andre Russell batted as if possessed. That was quite the performance.
In the 1970s, 1980s or 1990s a West Indies vs. England final would be a foregone conclusion before it started — the West Indies were bound to win.
Not so anymore especially with this ‘squad’. On paper, head-to-head, the Windies have way more experience, in the likes of Gayle, Bravo, Sammy, Ramdin, and some explosive firepower (as the Indians saw). But this squad is also famous for crumpling and ‘going-to-pieces’ under pressure. I also worry that the amazing, unexpected WIN against India sapped too much emotional energy out of them. Basically that they will be spent.
England, in the likes of Joe Root, Jos Butler, Ben Stokes, does have some amazing capability. And unlike the West Indies their temperament is more consistent and sound.
Only takes one GREAT innings in T20 to take a match away from the competition. Gayle or Stokes could play that.
I just hope that the West Indies do NOT play Marlon ‘Girlie-Boy‘ Samuels. He is a waste of a berth on the squad. Play (poor) Jason Holder. A 25% fit Holder is likely to be better than the mentally scarred Samuels. Do NOT get me wrong. I used to adore Marlon. It is just that he no longer can play cricket!
Not sure we can expect another blinder from Lendl Simmons again. That was an innings of a lifetime.
