The de facto win for ‘Free the Nipple‘ in ‘Fort Collins‘, Colorado is HUGE and with enormous consequences.

‘Fort Collins’ was trying to enforce the SAME local ordinance, when it came to female toplessness, as Weirs Beach, Laconia.

Fort Collins admitted defeat. Laconia should do the SAME.

A Circuit Court decision has sided with ‘Free the Nipple‘.

Kia Sinclair should rejoice. She was right all along.

This is GREAT. This is WONDERFUL.

The Laconia ordinance is wrong. It is now borderline invalid.

Kia Sinclair no longer needs to take this to the U.S. Supreme Court.

Case has been decided, in Kia’s favor, in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Kansas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma.

SIX (6) states.

Laconia has no leg to stand on.

Kia Sinclair prevails.

Free the Nipple stands firm.

Latest “Free The Nipple” Arrests In Weirs Beach A Waste Of Laconia (N.H.) Taxpayer’s Money.

by Anura Guruge

A New Hampshire judge, in Laconia no less, has already stated, quite clearly, that Laconia nor Gilford or for that matter any other city or town in New Hampshire CANNOT make female toplessness illegal when it is not illegal per the State. Simple as that. It is referred to as the “Home-Rule” clause.

These arrests are already a mockery of the law (and common sense) and just gives the New Hampshire “Free the Nipple” folks an irresistible rallying point. As long as there are arrests they will provoke the police and the citizens to make the pointless arrests.

The claim that “female toplessness isn’t appropriate because there were small children at the beach” is but laughable. Small children, especially, should be familiar with female breasts. IF not their mothers must have been negligent. Please don’t try to blame these stupid arrests on small children. They are innocent in every respect.

This is just going to make Laconia look silly and pathetic — and I like Laconia too much to see that happen.

Lake Winnipesaukee, NH 2016: No Ice-In Does Not Mean Ice-Out Will Be Early.

by Anura Guruge

So this will be the 4th time since they started keeping records some 170 years ago that Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire — our BIG Lake — has not fully frozen over. The prior three winters having been: 1998 – 1999, 2000 – 2001 & 2014 – 2015. So those are the so called “no ice-in” years.

But as my ice-out Excel spreadsheet shows no ice-in doesn’t mean that we by rote will get an early ice-out. Yes, we did have an relatively early ice-out the first time we experienced a no ice-in, i.e., 1998 – 1999. But it had been even earlier the year before. But the other two were ABOVE average — the average being 109 days into the year, April 20 IF it is not a leap-year and April 19 IF it is (as is this year).

So just a heads up.

Lake Winnipesaukee, NH 2016: V. Unlikely To Freeze Over Now; Will Be 4th Time In 170 Years.

by Anura Guruge

Screen grab of Weirs Bay, from the “Weirs Cam” at “winnipesaukee.com”, this afternoon. Temperature reading 48F! Click to ENLARGE and admire here. From: winnipesaukee.com.

I went running, with the dogs, up “Prospect Mountain Road” (as is my wont) this morning. It was 47°F. Wow. It was like Spring and yes, the road was muddy as it could be. The dogs came back soaked and muddy.

Lot of warm rain yesterday too. Yes going forward only next Wednesday will see highs above freezing BUT the damage has been done. Biggest factor now is that the Sun is higher in the sky and we have more daylight. That makes a big difference.

Though I could (of course) be wrong, and I appreciate that a lot of people would hope I am wrong, I think this will be the 4th year, since they started maintaining records around 170 years ago, that we at Lake Winnipesaukee will not get a complete ice-in.

So the 4 non-ice in years have been: 1998-1999, 2000-2001, 2013-2014 & 2015-2016. So all 4 have occurred within the last 18 years — and I have been up here, in and around the Lake to see all 4. NO I do not see this as proof of Global Warming. Last winter was COLD enough to dispel that.

I will, of course, keep you posted. I need to get out and get some pictures of the Lake.

As somebody who lived in Gilford for 8 years (6 of it 2 doors away from ‘THE’ beach) I am distressed that these two citations were issued for toplessness on the beach. It never even occurred to me that there were beach specific ordinances. One thing that totally puzzles me is the statement that the police ASKED if any of the women wanted to be cited! That seems very incongruous and could be interesting when the case comes up in front of a judge in October. That said I am glad that this came to be. Now the legality of such ordinances can be put to the test. A claim that Gilford beach is ‘private’ made me chuckle. IF I remember right you need a ‘beach pass’ to bring a vehicle to the beach. Wonder whether this ‘private’ aspect will now raise its ugly head. Yikes.

I am so proud of the Laconia Police! That they showed undue restraint at Weirs is magic. Kudos to the department and the Commissioners.

Well, this is progress.
