I do not know how long they have had it for. Can’t find a version number. Judging from the reviews it appears to have been introduced in 2019.
The last review is disturbing! Says the direction calculation is wrong! I can understand. There might be nuances that a non-Muslim might not get. It would be like a novice trying to figure out when Easter is supposed to be — rather than just looking it up.
Garmin Express versions have been increasing rapidly — basically a new version every month as of 2019.
We were at 6.15 on July 1, 2019.
Now mid-month we are 3 versions higher.
It must be to support all the new Garmin models.
But, make sure you upgrade.
Interesting. The v18.104.22.168 update was just 26-days ago. We have had two updates within 45-days. That is pretty swift.
Today’s update did claim to fix some ‘major’ issues — but, as is Garmin’s wont we never get to know what they are.
Make sure you update your ‘Express‘.
Interesting. This is a ‘dot’ update — i.e., it went up from v22.214.171.124 to v126.96.36.199. I had to do a double-take to spot it. I expected it to be v188.8.131.52.
Also this new update in 19-days! That is fast — and strage. They must have had a major bug they needed to fix, maybe with the new ‘Connect IQ‘ store.
Make sure you update your ‘Express‘.
The last update to Garmin Express that I took note of was on January 16, 2019. That was v184.108.40.206. This is three versions higher than that. So, there must have been other updates that I did not pay any attention to. Strange.
Doesn’t matter. What matters is that we are at v.220.127.116.11 as of now.
I had been expecting an update to Garmin Express for a couple of weeks. We had been at 6.10 for quite some time.
So, being told that there was a new version did not surprise me. So, I updated to 18.104.22.168 about an hour ago. Can’t say I noticed anything different. With Garmin, that is NOT a bad thing.
I got this update a few minutes into June 7, 2018, i.e., like at 12:15am. It is the first update I have had on Express since getting my Garmin Fenix 5 a month ago. I kind was expecting one, so I was relieved to get it.
As I had previously told you, Garmin Express (at least on Windows) does NOT auto-update or provide you with any notification that an update is available. You have to check manually. Which I always do.
NOTE. Something I discovered today, prior to updating to 6.0. IF you are getting a ‘Garmin Server Error‘ when using Express it means YOU need to update Garmin Express. Happened to me when I still had 5.9. That prompted me to CHECK for Express updates. As soon as I had 6.0 … all was GOOD.

The prior firmware version, viz., 22.214.171.124, was released February 12, 2018.
A monthly firmware rollout is now fairly standard for these types of watches, whether Fitbit or Garmin.
So, I am anticipating an update anytime now. As we know there are PLENTY of bugs, some introduced with 126.96.36.199, such as GPS inaccuracy, that have to be fixed.
I hope they get it out sooner than later, and ideally this week! Why, I only have another 10-days with the Ionic. At that point my 12-year old gets it, in place of the iWOWNFit she got for her birthday. I am getting a Garmin Forerunner 935. Was going to get the Forerunner 645, but that, alas, like the Garmin Vivoactive 3, has too many teething issues.
So, ideally I would like to have the Ionic updated and tested before I hand it over.
May 3, 2018 would be exactly 3-months of me having the Ionic. I set that has a self-imposed punishment: “keep it for 3-months, now that you got one“!
I will, of course, keep you posted.

Wow. 5 updates in 48-days! That is just CRAZY. An update every 10 days.
That is bad. That is pathetic. Fitbit OBVIOUSLY is not testing this software. Just throwing it over the fence. No wonder so many of YOU are having so many problems.
We should take a stand.
This is crazy. That is LOT of BUGS they are fixing.
Garmin Connect updated to 4.2 this morning, automatically, on my ASUS ZenPad 10.1″ running Android 7.0.
Smooth update. No issues. Accessed my prior data, seamlessly, as soon as it initalized itself. So far, so good. Noticed that it now ‘flashes’ a ‘device connected’ message when it makes Bluetooth contact.
This update is consistent with Garmin’s recent claim to provide monthly updates — at a minimum — for all of its software.
We were, with Garmin Connect, at 4.1.11 (which was released around December 8, 2017). So, the timing was on the mark.
Interesting that it is 4.2 rather than 4.1.12.
Garmin Express, earlier this week, was updated to 6.0.
So, it would appear that Garmin, in January, starts off with fresh ‘release number’ builds — rather than incremental updates.
Garmin Connect, unlike Garmin Express, should AUTO-UPDATE.
If you do not have 4.2 on your Mobile you might want to force an update.
So, as of Saturday, January 13, 2018:
Garmin Connect — 4.2
Garmin Express — 6.0
Vivoactive 3 — 2.9
