Visiting “Sawyers Holiday Open House” in Barnstead, NH (next to the White Church) has now become an entrenched & mandatory Thanksgiving weekend tradition — and I think we have been going to it, without fail, for quite a few years — and always enjoy the experience. Very rewarding. Great people. Salt of the Earth.

So, it was on our lists of things to do after Thanksgiving. This year it was the first thing we did on Black Friday!

A wonderful, uplifting tradition. Such a tranquil and picturesque setting. I love wandering around snapping pictures.

Thank YOU the Sawyer family and their vendors.

Visiting “Sawyers Holiday Open House” in Barnstead, NH (next to the White Church) has now become an entrenched Thanksgiving weekend tradition — and I think we have been going to it, without fail, for the last four to five years, if not longer.

So, it was on our lists of things to do after Thanksgiving. Last year we could not get there until Sunday. To make up for that, this year we went around noon on Friday, before most of the nice stuff got snapped out. We were, of course, not disappointed. It is always a treat. Wonderful congenial atmosphere and as much pictures show a array of eye-catching creative products — all by local artisans. They also always have a selection of food for sale and free treats for the visitors. This year we bought some cheese.

A wonderful, rewarding tradition. Such a tranquil and picturesque setting. I love wandering around snapping pictures.

Their 15th annual Fair from what I gather.

They will be open Saturday & Sunday, November 24 & 25, 2018.

Thank YOU the Sawyer family and their vendors.

Thanksgiving around these parts would not be complete without the now landmark “Sawyers Holiday Open House” in Barnstead, NH, next to the White Church.

We could not, alas, make it until the Sunday given our trip to Maine. Usually we are there on Friday, if not Saturday. But, this year we got there first thing Sunday. As we expected much of the good stuff was gone — and that is “OK”! We are glad for the Sawyers and their vendors. They all do such a good job that they deserve the success and acclaim they now enjoy.

But, they still have some ultra cute chocolate Christmas tree decorations and I could not resist!

A wonderful, rewarding tradition. Such a tranquil and picturesque setting. I love wandering around snapping pictures.

This year is now done. Their 14th annual Fair from what I gather.

Can’t wait till 2018.

Thank YOU the Sawyer family and their vendors.

Mommessin in 2013. They have been producing Beaujolais since 1865. Click here for a very good article about Beaujolais Nouveau.

I happened to be at the Wolfeboro N.H. Liquor Store last night, buying the de rigueur 5 litres of boxed Merlot for my daily medicinal use, when I got talking with the Manager (who had been employed there for 8 years) about Beaujolais Nouveau. He assured me that he will have bottles for sale on November 21 — and how he gets the boxes from Georges Duboeuf well in advance but is prohibited from selling prior to THE DAY. I knew that. I was telling him about Beaujolais Nouveau parties in London when he asked me whether anybody else, other than G.D., sold Beaujolais Nouveau. I assured him that most certainly others did.

But this morning I did some research. Georges Duboeuf, by far, is the leading worldwide retailer of Beaujolais Nouveau. It appears that it is they that popularized the wine in the U.S. (if not in other parts of the world too). They might be the only mainstream supplier of B.N. in the U.S.

But, there are certainly others.

As far as I can work out some of the other vendors include: Joseph Drouhin, Mommessin (–>), Albert Bichot, Bouchard Aîné & Fils, Thorin and Signé Vignerons.

If you know of others or have a complete list please SHARE.

Here are JUST SOME of the pictures I found from a quick Google.
