Flowers & Flora From Rochester, New Hampshire — September 9, 2020.

I had to go to Rochester, New Hampshire this morning. While I was there I decided that I might as well get some of my walking out of the way & also get some different shots. Rochester rarely disappoints. They invariably have a good crop of flowers in the Summer months — & we are still in Summer (though, just). SMILE. Enjoy.

We Had Lobsters For Dinner Tonight.

by Anura Guruge

We have at least one big lobster dinner a year. This was the first for 2020.

We got them from ‘Market Basket‘ in Rochester, N.H. They were $5.99 per pound. Steaming on the house.

I am against cooking them in the house. Plus, I got 8. We would have needed some BIG pots for that. Much better to get them to zap them.

They were good. I just ate 2. I must be getting old. I have been known to eat 3 or 4 without much trouble.

Very Fancy, 8-Dock Tesla Charging Station In Rochester, New Hampshire.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE. From Google. Probably NOT up to-date.

WOW. The fanciest Tesla charging station I have ever seen — & to be honest, I haven’t seen many.

As you can see from the map we don’t, as yet, have that many up here in New Hampshire. The only one in this neck of the woods, as far as I know, is a 2-bay station in tony Wolfeboro.

Rochester is an interesting choice. Not exactly the richest town hereabouts. Not actually sure if there are 8 Teslas in Rochester in total. Yes, further South. But, Rochester.

Must be a sign of the time — & today Tesla shares went up $84.38 & the stock cracked the $1,000 mark. SMILE. Yes, I own Tesla stock. Alas NOT many. But, my Tesla stock has TRIPLED in value since I bought them. SMILE. Yes, TRIPLED. At the current rate they will triple again. I will then be able to buy a Tesla, maybe used, from my few Tesla shares. SMILE.

COVID-19: Did You Know That Walmart Has Closed Its Auto Centers?

by Anura Guruge

I had NO idea that Walmart had done this.

Went to the Rochester (N.H.) Walmart Auto Center yesterday to try & get the a/c on our Nissan Quest topped up. It was CLOSED. Bunch of associates lounging around taking great glee in telling me they are closed.

How does that make sense?

Car repair was deemed ‘essential’ from the start. Other places are open.

I did some thinking. Yes, to be on the safe side they would need to disinfect the insides of the cars before they get in them. I can see that. But, other places do, & Walmart, more so than others, should be capable of taking that step in their stride.

I am disappointed — but Walmart disappoints I often.

I know that a lot of people rely on Walmart for their car care because they tend to be affordable.

Not right.

No big deal for us. I will take it to another local shop.

Just wanted to make sure you knew about this.

The 2 Non-Fake Christmas Trees Are Up (But Not Decorated) — So, All 3 Trees Are Up On The Advent.

Got these two, $35/each
from ‘Farmington Boy Scouts Troop 188’
At ‘Harley Davidson’ In Rochester, N.H.
yesterday.

** ** ** ** **

Most of my work is done — i.e., buying and getting the trees inside and installed. I don’t do much of the decorating. There are enough hands for that. These two trees were BIG. Had to chop off a fair amount, on both, top and bottom. We have tree toppings so we need space at the top.

Having an electric chain saw makes it easy. SMILE. I am now even cutting vertical notches at the bottom to facilitate water absorption. Teischan, as always, helped since the trees are ‘her thing’. Wasn’t too bad. Waited until 2:30pm when the temp. was just about freezing. Felt warm and good.

No school tomorrow (Monday) because of the snow. So, I assume that some decorating will commence. Stay tuned.

We Bought 2 Christmas Trees From ‘Farmington Boy Scouts Troop 188’ At ‘Harley Davidson’ In Rochester, N.H.

Good trees. $35/each.

Exceptional service.

They will load and securely tie down.
(They know what they are doing.)

Route 11 in Rochester — ‘Harley Davidson’ dealership.

Weekends Until All Trees Sold.

** ** ** ** **

Made a point of getting it from them this. We had discovered them last year and was very impressed with their exceptional service. I loved it. After decades of struggling tying down trees to the roof I can now let a couple of professionals do it — with aplomb and courtesy. Very nice group of people. Very impressive. Glad to give them the money rather than to Walmart.

They should still have trees on Sunday. They had a got 225 from Canada. They were, however, going fast — as they should.

We, as usual, got two. We are very pleased.

Selfies My Way — Beaujolais Nouveau Day, Without A Wine Glass; November 21, 2019.

Yes, you are free to steal these pictures.

Anura Guruge November 2019

Beaujolais Nouveau day. One of the few days in the year when you are likely to see a picture of I which is NOT a selfie — but, I will invariably be holding a glass (or drinking a glass) of Beaujolais Nouveau. So, I thought I should do a selfie without the glass of wine. This was at Market Basket, Rochester, before I got home with the bottles of wine.
