Amazon Prime Video REWIND/FF On The Roku APP Just Got Worse!
If you use the Roku Prime Video APP to watch movies you will know exactly what I am talking about.
Do a Google on “prime video rewind on Roku“.
Basically it is IMPOSSIBLE to control REWIND or FF. It just goes haywire. You can’t just skip a few seconds back or forward.
Well, Amazon did something today.
It made it EVEN worse! Yep, no granularity whatsoever. Just all the way back, 10 minutes at a time or forward 20-minutes.
So, STUPID.

‘Blow The Man Down’ (2019) Amazon Movie — Decent Story, ‘Poorly’ Produced, ‘David Coffin’ Was A Waste.
YouTube trailer.
With no cricket being played, anywhere in the world, I am kind of lost. So, I am forced to watch movies on Amazon during my TV time. Hence, this movie.
It is set in Maine and the description was fairly enticing. It was an ‘OK’ movie. It could have been better.
Having ‘David Coffin‘, THE MAN from Revels (Cambridge) was a treat & a kick. I did NOT know he was going to be in it, but I recognized him as soon as he appeared. Ironically, I am not sure why they had him in the movie! I could be very wrong BUT I am not sure he added anything. His sea shanties, all of which I was familiar with, were incongruous in this movie — in my opinion. They were loud and made the movie seem unnecessarily heavy-handed and dark.
That it was in Maine and that it revolved around lobstering was cute. Liked that.
Story was OK. Not great. Production was BAD. It could have been muck slicker and having David Coffin was a waste! Sorry.

WATCH HBO ‘McMillions’ (2020) Miniseries — Very Compelling, Extremely Well Produced.
Watch the trailer on YouTube.
WOW!
I can’t tell you how well this has been put together. Bloody brilliant. I am in awe.
Brand new. This has to set the bar for future documentaries of this genre. Not sure how they got all these people to talk.
Did NOT know this ‘story’. Quite the story.
Very watchable. I have really enjoyed it. They had me hooked 5-minutes into it.
Yes, I recommend it — highly.

‘Lady Jane’ (1986) Movie — Outstanding, Enthralling & Entertaining.
Available on YouTube.
Yes, it is old, but it does not come across as such. Right at the start I detected that the picture ‘quality’ was not 21st century, but it is very, very well shot and produced. Once you are in it you get caught up in how luxuriant the cinematography is.
It was on my Amazon Prime watch list. There is no new cricket because of the virus! So, I am forced to watch movies.
I am GLAD I watched this. I really enjoyed it and I learnt a LOT. And to I that is always a bonus and pleasure.
I am invariably shamed and embarrassed that my grasp of British history is rather tenuous. I know a million times more about papal history than I know of British. I would like to rectify it, but, alas, I think it is too late. So, movies like this, which are educational — in addition to being entertaining — are much appreciated and valued.
They do a good job trying to explain the historic context and what the issues are — i.e., trying to keep England from going under a Catholic monarch.
Though it is an historical story, onc can really watch it and enjoy it as a well-produced, lavish, period romance.
It was good. Very good. Highly recommended. Enjoy.

‘A Dark Place’ (2018) Movie — Taut, Certainly ‘Dark’, Quite Gripping & Watchable.
Available on YouTube.
Don’t think it is a date movie, unless both of you like slow-burn, murder-crime dramas. Kind of has the feel of ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri‘ but at a much slower pace, darker and with no humor, whatsoever.
It is well done. The whole movie has an intentional creepy feel. That kind of keeps you engrossed. Fairly simple, but non-obvious storyline. I wasn’t sure what to expect. But, I am glad I watched and it kept me engaged. A great study of an autistic personality.
I liked it. If you like dark, taut murder mysteries — purposefully shot to be slow-paced — you will enjoy this. I watched it, free, on Amazon Prime. But, it is on YouTube too.

‘Solver’ (2017) Movie — Easily THE WORST Movie I Have Ever Had The Misfortune To Watch.
This is a
PUBLIC SERVICE
ADVISORY.
Do NOT watch this movie.
It is harmful to your health.
Wow. Wow. Wow. It was incredible. It was so dreadful, awful, pathetic & disgraceful. It was a travesty. No, I did NOT like it in case you weren’t sure as to where I stood. I hated it.
God! It has the ‘guy’ selling his grandfather’s house, in New York state, in 72-hours EVEN before the grandfather’s body has been located! No reading of a will, no 9-months in probate court — he just sells the house and there is even a closing without him signing the papers.
That is just one example of how the plot of this damn stupid movie is FLAWED.
There should be a LAW against movies like this. They should not be allowed to release drivel such as this.
It was on Amazon Prime. There was no cricket. I wanted a change. God, it was awful.
Do NOT watch it.

With “Vanity Fair” Amazon Prime Video Sets Out To Compete With PBS “Masterpiece”.
We have so far watched episode 1 and most of episode 2. It is very good, indeed. Lavishly and painstakingly produced. Visually very pleasing.
Compelling story too. No, I had not read William Makepeace Thackeray’s book (alas). Classic mid-19th century period drama. Reminded me of “Howards End“, “Importance of being Earnest” & “Wuthering Heights”.
Definitely worth watching. Very rewarding.
I am glad that I got an e-mail from Prime giving me a heads-up on the availability of this series.
So, now I am passing this on. A ‘Prime Original’. Money well spent by Amazon. Bravo.

Amazon “Prime Day” 2016 Will Be Tuesday, July 12.
Last year it was on July 15, 2015 — a Wednesday.
So they are keeping it essentially to “week after July 4th“.
I know that a lot of people were NOT impressed with last year’s “Prime Day”. To be honest I really did not bother. There was nothing that I was really looking for.
As I have often said, to I, Amazon Prime is just worth it for ‘Amazon Video‘ and the ‘2-day’ shipping.
So ‘Prime Day’ is a kind of bonus.
