Yes, they do also have ‘Chag Sameach‘ — Happy Passover.

I think I prefer ‘Gut Yontiff’ — where the ‘Gut’ refers to good.

Whatever you are marking have a Good Day.

There Really Is (Kosher) ‘Coca Cola’ For Passover. This NOT An April Fool’s Joke.

They have YELLOW Caps.

I kid you not.

All my decades of close association with those of the Judaic faith and I only learnt about Passover Coke today!

I had asked a somewhat of a recluse Jewish friend what is plans were for Passover. He said he planned to go out and get some Matza bread and SWEET Coca Cola. He doesn’t kid much so I knew that there had to be some basis to this comment. So, I Googled ‘Passover Coca Cola‘. BINGO.

He called it ‘SWEET’ because it, unlike regular Coca Cola, is made with REAL SUGAR. That is what makes it Kosher for Passover. No corn syrup! Normal Coke is sweetened with corn syrup. Corn does not meet the Passover prohibition on grain and leavened items.

Hence, the use of real sugar.

Brilliant.

I don’t think I have ever seen YELLOW CAP Coca Cola bottles in New Hampshire. But, I am going to go looking.

Easter Friday & Passover 2019 Are AGAIN On The SAME DAY — This Time April 19.

This happens more often than most people realize or appreciate, i.e., Good Friday and Passover falling on the SAME DAY.

It happened last year, i.e., 2018, and it was also the case in 2015 & 2011.

Having it happen in consecutive years is rare. So, rejoice and take note.

It will happen again in 3-years, i.e., 2022.

But note, we are talking about Friday — Good Friday — rather than Easter, which is on the Sunday.

Given that the two holidays are related it should not come as a great surprise that they do fall, close together.

For those that haven’t thought about it the Crucifixion happened just after Passover. Jesus had come to Jerusalem for Passover. The last supper is believed to have a Passover connection.

Hence the connection. In early Christianity Easter was celebrated at the same time as the Passover. So that they fall together, per a now very convoluted and artificial formula used by the Western Church, is to be expected.

Easter Sunday, per the ‘latest’ formula, can fall between March 22 (the day after the nominal ‘March 21’ Spring Equinox) and April 25.

Last year Easter was quite early. This year it is quite late.

However, Easter Sunday can NEVER COINCIDE with the Passover! The formula used to calculate Easter has this built-in.

So, it is always GOOD FRIDAY that can coincide with Passover — and never Easter per se.

Just thought you might find this interesting.
