Not much I can add. A solemn day in the end. Day to reflect, a day to give thanks — that we are speaking English rather than German.

Please check ALL the ‘D-Day‘ and ‘Red Poppy‘ posts on this blog. The search box is on the sidebar. In those days I covered much.

Remember. Reflect. Rejoice!

This is a magnificent piece of art in it own right, even if you put aside the subject matter. The portraits of the five Allied Commanders are special; portraits Dick Bobnick’s forte.

You really must check this painting out. The detail is incredible.

Continuing my series on the historic aspect of Canyon de Chelly as opposed to its majestic grandeur.

I have already talked quite a bit about this ‘White House‘, the best known and most visited of the ruins, as well as posted this video on the hike to the ‘White House’ ruins. Just wanted to share this picture.

Even more of the historic aspect of Canyon de Chelly as opposed to its majestic grandeur.

Yesterday I shared with you the ‘Massacre Cave‘ ruins on the North Rim. This is the cave itself where 115 Navajo, men, women and children, were massacred by the Spanish, in 1805 — with guns.

Just the NAME ‘Massacre Cave‘, on the North Rim, tells you ALL, chillingly. 115 Navajo, men, women and children, were massacred in the caves, by the Spanish, in 1805 — with guns.

These ruins are NOT really a part of that Massacre. They are ruins that are BELOW the cave, on the other side of the Canyon.
