The Nazi, Adolf Eichmann, One Of The Architects Of The Holocaust, Was Hanged This Day 55-Years Ago — In Israel.

by Anura Guruge

One of the worst among what was a sorry cabal of murderers and thugs. He joined the Nazis when 26. He was hanged 30 years later.

Being the coward he was he fled Germany in 1945 as the end was near. Israel’s Mossad located and captured him in Argentina in 1960.

He was supposed to be hung by 11:59pm on March 31. But, they had some technical difficulties and the execution did not take place till June 1. Some sources still have March 31, 1962 as the date of his death.

This is why I REFUSE to own, drive or touch a German car — even today.

I explained, in this post, my epiphany against most things Germans after seeing the destruction wrought on Liverpool (the home of the ‘Beatles‘ in England) 35-years after the end of WW II.

And the irony. Given roots in Ceylon I do not have any family members or folks that I knew who served, let alone died, in WW II. All the WW II veterans I have met, and I have met quite a few, have been British, American, Canadian, Australian and yes, German! [I skied in Austria with a German who lost his leg in WW II. They had rope lifts — as is common in Europe. He, given that he only had one leg and as such one ski, needed someone on the other side of the lift to compensate him — essentially to have their skis pointed at an angle to straighten him out. He would wait at the bottom of the ski life until I appeared. Then he would ask me.] But I still feel very strongly about all the ALLIES that served, suffered and died during WW I and WW II.

That is why I am will only now own American, British, Korean or Indian cars.

YES, YES, YES.

This pope does get somethings so very right. Love it. Way to GO Pope. Well done. THANK YOU. Bravo. Kudos. God will bless you for this though I am still confused as to what God and Pius XII were up to during WW II — when the Germans were pulverizing Liverpool. No matter. This is a small BUT significant victory.

About bloody time. Popes poncing about in $100K top of the line Mercedes Benzes always aggravated me — and not just because they were driving dreaded, bloody German cars. Popes should NOT flaunt their considerable wealth when there are so, so many POOR CATHOLICS.

This pope understands that. Yes, I am, of course, as is my wont, critical of him when he does crazy things like letting disgraced Keith “the groper” O’Brien keep his cardinal title or when he was wearing the jewel studded gold pallium pins. But, deep down I like this pope. Plus remember and do NOT forget that I am the ONLY person that had this pope, by name, in a book published 2 years ahead of his election, as a possible pope.

This pope has the right idea about 85% of the stuff that he has to deal with. He is, however, wrong on climate control. But this is good.

The previous pope was not only German BUT was a Hitler Youth. I am NOT making that up. Go check it by Googling it. Or you can just read my October 17, 2011 post, in my 700,000 hit “Popes and Papacy” blog about Susan Sarandon calling Benedict a Nazi, not once BUT twice! So it was natural for him to feel comfortable in German cars.

South Korea does have Catholics. They even have two cardinals. So it is a Catholic country. So this is fair enough.

Quod erat demonstrandum
(Q.E.D.)

What more do I have to say?

I might not be the brightest bulb out there, BUT I do NOT
need any technology to help me
DETECT PEDESTRIANS
when I am driving.

They are, to folks with even a modicum of gray matter, fairly easy to spot.

Just further proof of my long held contention.

People who buy German cars are clueless.

What do I have AGAINST German cars.

I visited Liverpool for the first time in 1980. I was the Customer Support Manager for ITT (U.K.) and I had to meet with some customers, waterfront. As usual I drove. I think I was driving a Gold 2L Ford Cortina, my company car at the time. As I was driving into the city I could see all these desolate, empty spaces. Complete blocks with nothing on them. I wasn’t sure what the deal was. At lunch, and my job as Customer Support Manager, was 50% entertainment, I asked the Liverpudlians what the empty spaces were all about. There was a silence for a second. They all looked at me. Well they kind of knew I wasn’t totally stupid. They also recognized that I had not grown up in Britain, and that I was NOT being funny. They then all jumped in at once and went onto explain that those were still the unbuilt lots after the WW II blitz. I was stunned. WW II had ended 35 years earlier. I had never seen any major WW II damage in London. This was an EYE OPENER.

On the way back I stopped at one of these empty lots and got out of the car. It was a strange feeling. A tangible connection with WW II. I was born 8 years after the War. But standing there was very profound. It annoyed me no end that the Germans had done this to Liverpool, to the British and as such also to I. That is when I avowed that I will do my best never to buy anything German. It was MY small way of showing my respects to what I saw in Liverpool.

I have been good to my word (as I tend to be). A few years later, in what was meant to be a big ‘honor’ I was given, by CASE Communications, a Mercedes Benz as a company car. I kept it for 2 months. But, NOTE I did not buy it. It was given to me and it was meant to be a FAVOR. A recognition. Yes, I have driven German cars. But they do nothing for me. Yes, I have been to Germany more times than most. But Germany doesn’t appeal to me much — though I do recognize that it is beautiful country. The images of Liverpool STILL haunt me.

I worked with a very rich Jew. He was always going on about the Nazi persecution of Jews. But one day it occurred to me that this guy, for all of his talk, owned over $100K in German cars. So one day when I was talking to him on the phone, and in those days we spoke quite often, I said: “G** have you worked out how much the German cars you have parked in your driveway, right now, must cost?” He thought for a minute and replied: “Those 3 must have cost at least $75K” — and we are talking 15 years ago. I then asked: “WHY?”

So that is why I continue to make fun of those that by German cars — and that used to include, to his annoyance and sometimes embarrassment, my adoptive (now late) father.

The now ‘ex’ German pope, an arch-conservative himself, was very fond of this group. Achieving a total reconciliation with them was is most ardent goal during his star-crossed papacy. But, we was foiled. Conservatives, as we know, are hard to placate.
