Last Year — déjà vu! Exact same spot!
Only difference is I look older. Same clothes. Alas. Not fun being poor. SMILE.
Not much I have to say. Should be fairly self-explanatory. We got married on January 1, 2003 — I picking that day knowing I was going senile and would soon forget the date UNLESS I picked one that I would not be able to miss. SMILE. There is, promise, always method to my madness.
Deanna, having grown up waterfront, likes the ocean, so we try to go to the ocean on our anniversary and Hampton Beach is pretty handy and fun.
You could actually see THREE of us in this picture. But, as she keeping on insisting, she is still learning (and does not have my experience). SMILE.

But, today I just wanted to give you a heads up.
Year of the Dog — and though I am, alas, a ‘snake’, as you know I am inordinately fond of dogs.
Don’t forget, FREE celebratory event at the ‘Confucius Institute’, UNH (Durham, NH) tomorrow and Wednesday.
Forget the “Blue Moon Eclipse“. It will NOT be a total eclipse in New Hampshire. Nada.
It will be partial, it will be early in the morning, the moon will most likely be BELOW the New Hampshire tree line and it will be fleeting.
It really is a NON-EVENT in New Hampshire.
It will NOT be Blue. Sorry. ‘Blue’ denotes rarity — 2nd full moon in a month.
It will not be as near to us as the 1st one on January 1, 2018.
Clouds, always a problem in New Hampshire, might be a problem.
But, definitely go out, tomorrow night and have a gander. You might even see it through the clouds.

5 Things to remember & note.
- It will NOT be a BLUE Moon! That is just an expression — in that it is the 2nd Full Moon in the month. The other having been on January 1, 2018 — which was also a Supermoon.
So, I repeat. The moon will NOT be blue. Not Blue. Promise.
- The TOTAL eclipse begins to the West of us. So we will only see a Partial Eclipse and a very partial one at that. And it will be fleeting.
- The Moon will set beyond the horizon, not counting our tree line, soon after the Partial Eclipse starts!
We might see it, at most, for 3 minutes! Yes, 3 minutes. It might already be below the tree line.
- It is in the morning. Not at night. 6:57 am — i.e., morning.
- Weather could, as ever, in New Hampshire, be an issue.
It definitely has prolonged battery life — maybe DOUBLED it.
On Monday, January 1, 2018 the software did have a conniption, but I was able to recover by doing a soft reset.
Still early days.
My first Garmin Vivoactive 3 died after 15 days. So, I am still rather leary and ‘jumpy’.
I am monitoring battery life and I will keep you posted.
Happy New Year.
The January 1, 2018 will be even closer than the December 4.
So, that is good. I will keep you posted.

Given all the cruel and unusual grief I suffered last year trying to sign up for 2014 coverage, and the amount of harassment I have endured this year with ‘the system’ incessantly demanding documents from me, I was dreading having to sign up for 2015 insurance. Not only is it the law (and I can’t afford to cough the penalty) my precarious health dictates that I have at least catastrophic coverage to keep the family from the ‘Poor House’ the next time I fall ill.
I had kind of worked out a strategy to hopefully minimize any system load related grief. I was going to sign up on the late afternoon of Wednesday, November 26, when everybody else would be busy trying to get where they were going for Thanksgiving. I had assumed that the day before Turkey would be a quiet day for healthcare.gov. I am sure the same will be true over the whole 4-day Thanksgiving period but I didn’t want to tackle it on a holiday or when Internet traffic would be at a peak on Black Friday.
But as with all my plans I didn’t stick to it. Over the last 2 weeks as the very observant among you may have noticed I have switched my schedule around. I no longer pots or doing anything serious on this blog during the day. Instead I work on the book. That way I can devote some quality writing time to the book. Today, for a change, I made some good progress on the book. 30% done. I was ready to start a new section. It was just past 4 pm. Occurred to me that IF I try and get my Obamacare taken care of today, I will have tomorrow free to work on the book. So I gingerly logged onto healthcare.gov around 4:10 pm. Being who I am, I had made sure that my logon worked on November 15th itself — i.e., the very day the system opened for 2015 enrollment. Actually, being who I am, I checked it a few times! Remember I am the one that has contingency plans for contingency plans.
Logon worked fine. Quick. No problems. Like night and day compared to the nightmare of last year. The process wasn’t too bad. Yes, I did NOT have to enter much data. Just verify and confirm information from last year. But they do insist on a tedious Q&A process. But, it was OK. I was done within about 45 minutes.
My premium went up 12%. I could have got a lower premium with one of the new carriers but from what I could see their network really had no doctors. So wasn’t much use having insurance with them if they don’t have any ‘in-network’ doctors.
I am SURE there is a GLITCH with dental insurance. As was also the case last year, though dental is OPTIONAL, it doesn’t appear to let you SKIP dental! I was going to skip it this year. But after 2 attempts to say NO and move on I decided that it must be fate. I had to have the damn insurance. So I got it. It had gone up 16%.
Yes, being the PRO I am with this system I UPLOADED the documents I had to submit. Got all the GREEN submitted and completed boxes. BUT, of NO! I already created a fat envelope with copies of the documents. Going to send it certified mail tomorrow. Not doing the same dance as last year.
But now will begin the tango with Anthem and Delta. But at least I have stuff already in place with them.
I will, of course, keep you posted.
The 2 Dallas Nurses From Presbyterian Who Contracted Ebola & 76 Other Health Workers — Have They All Been CHASTE?
by Anura Guruge
So if any of these poor folks were having sex, and the chances are pretty high that they were (given that the 2nd nurse, Amber Vinson, was planning her wedding), there is a WHOLE new category of folks in risk.
I do not hear these folks being talked about. I can understand the media being squeamish to talk about sex partners in their news reports but what about the CDC.
Were they told to lay off sex?
Maybe the CDC, in addition to Hazmat suits, should also be dishing out chastity belts.
I think about such things. That is what I do.
by Anura Guruge
This is the Interim CEO of “Texas Health Presbyterian” in Dallas (TX), Jim Berg.
First Question: WHY has he been INTERIM President and CEO for 7, yes, SEVEN, years?
That alone is suspicious. Is he not qualified.
Second Question: Why isn’t he already in police custody because I am sure this will eventually boil down to criminal negligence on the part of this accursed hospital.
I already said on October 9 that this hospital was screwed — it might as well declare bankruptcy now.
Well that was a week ago.
Things have turned much more ugly.
IF an innocent patient at this hospital contracts Ebola from a nurse, who was also providing care to Eric Duncan, all hell will break lose.
They have already, from what I heard over the weekend, stopped accepting ER patients.
As of TODAY they should stop accepting ANY patients.
Basically the hospital should be put on lockdown. No new patients.
This hospital should be closed — in time. I hope it does not end up as a SAD and frightening edificial memorial to Ebola in the U.S.?
This is crazy. Disgrace to the U.S.
Where the heck is Rick ‘am I awake’ Perry? Sleeping on the job or is it with a campaign worker?
Mark my word. This hospital has to go.
All of this because some idiot doctor MISDIAGNOSED Eric Duncan. He should be arrested. We should know who he is. People must know. Come on. Lets have the name. Most likely a U.K. tabloid will get it soon.
Jim Berg … do the decent thing. Resign and go to the nearest police station and give yourself up.
Let CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta run this hospital — albeit to the ground.
