Netflix “The Dig” (2021) Movie — Superbly Showcases WW II-Era British Human Decency, Class Snobbery & Homosexuality.
I watched this Netflix movie, with awe, last night & did NOT want it to end. I kept on wishing & hoping that it was a SERIES rather than a solitary movie because I wanted MORE. Much more. It was that good.
Netflix has done it again. They really have found the touch. This was a GREAT movie. Yes, IF you are NOT an Anglophile you might complain that it was a tad slow. But, it needed that pace to SHOWCASE & dramatize its touching take on what used to be quintessential British HUMAN DECENCY. Britain used to be famous for it & I think we can still find it there. Wow. So many examples of how decent we were. Brought tears to my eyes.
Also, alas, but realistically portrayed what used to be — & probably still is, but not as blatantly — British CLASS warfare. Wow. Working class against the TOFFS. Smile.
Though many might not notice it, the movie also cast quite the light on what used to be rampant male homosexuality among the ‘Oxbridge’ crowd. I, even in the late 1960s, saw it first hand. I got expelled from Public School because I went to extraordinary lengths to bring this (among some of the Masters) to the attention of the parents. Thanks to my efforts quite a few kids managed to convince their parents to take them away from Boarding School. So, this theme amused me, no end. SMILE.
Good movie. IF you liked ‘Downton Abbey’ you probably will ENJOY it. Watch it. You will THANK ME. Based on a TRUE STORY.

Gay marriage is one thing. A ‘married’ Catholic priest, irrespective of whether it is homosexual or hetrosexual, is a whole different matter.
A ‘married’ Catholic priest is an OXYMORON!
You can’t have a ‘married’ Catholic priest. It just can’t be. To have a ‘married’ Catholic priest would be akin to an American (Mormon or otherwise) claiming he is legally married to two women. Just cannot be.
For Krzystof Charamsa to shamelessly bandy about his ‘marriage’ is idiotic. This has NOTHING to do with gay marriage. Catholic priest cannot be married. Catholic priest should NOT be married. They have taken a vow of celibacy — where Catholic ‘celibacy’ is all about FORBIDDING permanent relationships, i.e., marriage, as opposed to forestalling sex! I have explained this. A vow of chastity or continence is about forgoing sex. Celibacy is just about marriage.
So this is a JOKE. Why the pope, who has that type of power, did not summarily defrock him on Friday when we started making all these waves is another indictment on this pope.
He panders too much.
But lets once and for all get this straight. Gay marriage has NOTHING to do with Gay Catholic priests. They cannot be married! Period.

This 62% landslide in Catholic-Ireland is an embarrassment and blow to the Pope and the Church.
You have to ask: “What was God thinking?”
Yes, yes, I know all that stuff about Free Will and that God does not micromanage. But when you are talking about an entire Catholic nation it is hardly micromanagement. It is a MACRO event that affects the whole Church. The way I read this — God was in favor.
Archbishop Diarmuid Martin’s statement, shown above, makes it very clear that Pope Francis, despite his infamous ‘who am I to judge‘ statement, is vehemently against gay marriage. Francis, contrary to what he pronounces, is a very-correct conservative, orthodox Jesuit at heart. He may claim not to judge but he is 100% behind the teachings of the Church that homosexuality is a sin! That is the dilemma of — and with — this pope. What he says in public is NOT what he actually believes in. It is a strange kind of papal lip service.
This Irish referendum will be a challenge. He will have to comment on it — this coming week. Lets wait to see what he has to say. God’s Will etc.
