I Totally & Utterly DESPISE Indian ‘Hotstar’ — It’s Coverage Of Cricket Test Matches Is Beyond Atrocious.

I have said it before,
I will say it again.
Bloody Hotstar has NO IDEA
about covering cricket.

There coverage of the India vs South Africa 1st Test showed the ultimate WORST side of Hotstar.

BIGGEST four complaints.

  1. Has headlines telling you what happened, i.e., the bloody score. So, there is no excitement. You know what has happened BEFORE watching anything. So, bloody Indian, so bloody stupid.
    …..
  2. Only has a 14-minute highlight package. YOU cannot condense 6 hours of Test cricket into 14-minutes. It is just like the premature ejaculations that Indian men are renowned for!
    …..
  3. The bloody 14-minute highlights are only in Hindi.
    …..
  4. Bloody, ignorant Hindi commentators have NO bloody idea what ‘clean bowled‘ means. I guess it just sounds cool to them. So, you can hear them yelling and having their premature ejaculations shouting ‘clean bowled‘ when it was played on. Played on is NOT ‘clean bowled’. Stupid idiots.

Good News For BUSY Rugby Fans, 17-Minute Highlights Of 2019 World Cup Matches, In HD, Available On YouTube (FREE).

by Anura Guruge

Just a very partial listing from YouTube.com.

Given that NBC holds the U.S. broadcast right for the 2019 World Cup I did not expect to see much on YouTube.

I was pleasantly surprised. NBC, for a change, is being NICE. Yes, they are but 17-minute HIGHLIGHTs but it is in HD and appears to capture what is needed. Yes, it does leave you feeling a bit lost and empty at times, but it is better than nothing.

To be honest, I am quite cool with this. I do NOT have time to watch a full 90-100 minute game — not with my writing and also watching cricket! So, this suits I.

Yesterday, I watched two matches, back-to-back: New Zealand v South Africa & Fiji v Australia. They were both beyond excellent. Must watch. Honest. Some of the running. Will leave you breathless.

‘Hotstar USA’, On Roku, Is But A Disgraceful Indian HORROR Show.

by Anura Guruge

The ‘Hotstar’ APP for the Roku is full of bugs!

For a start it lacks an account management option. I kid YOU not. Everything has to be done through your Roku account.

This means that renewals do NOT work! It is an unmitigated disaster. A typical Indian horror show.

It might be fine on a PC or phone, BUT NOT on Roku. Trust me on this.

Plus, watching the Vivo IPL on ‘Hotstar’ is near impossible.

‘Hotstar’ is for Indian kids with ADHD.

I am DONE!

I Stand By My Claim That “Hotstar” Is NOT For True Cricket Lovers!

by Anura Guruge

Pictures off my 47″ TV using my Google Pixel 2 phone.

OK, on Sunday (Day 2), I discovered that “Hotstar” live streams some of the IPL games, in full, and that there were full-length, versions of Match # 2 & Match #3. [Refer to images 1 & 2 above.]

But, NOT of Match #1. It says it is there, but all 10 hours of it is the IPL Auction! So, that is the bummer.

So, why am I still complaining?

Because, unless you watch ‘live’, which is not practical to most of us, you get SCREWED in terms of knowing the outcome of the match BEFORE you get around to watching it.

What fun is that in a T20?

So, here is the problem — and you can see it, clearly, in image 3 (above).

Before you can get to the replay you want, you are going to see ‘headlines’ like: “Ruthless Narine Slams 19-Ball 50“. So, now there is no suspense. You know Narine is NOT going to get out until he scores 50.

This is a bloody joke.

This IPL coverage is for those with ADHD and on drugs.

It is NOT serious cricket coverage. The cricket has been trivialized for the mobile phone set.

IF you are a genuine cricket fan like I, you will understand … you will appreciate.

This is NOT cricket!

Vivo IPL 2018 On “Hotstar” Is NOT For True Cricket Lovers!

by Anura Guruge

Vivo IPL 2018 coverage on “Hotstar” is NOT for serious cricket fans. It is basically a series of clips.

The HIGHLIGHTS package is 17-minutes! You can see that on picture 2.

17-minute.

I don’t even like 30-minute highlights on Willow. You just need to see more of the game to get the context and feel.

In 17-minutes all you get is ‘crash-bang-wallop’.

Very disappointed.

With T20 matches I like to see all 240-balls. A T20 match lasts about 3:45 hours and on Willow you could, most times, watch a whole game.

Moreover, they blast captions such as “CSK’s Great Escape …” all over the place. So, you know CSK must have won.

Very poor. Very poor. I am crushed.

It is “OK” for FREE, BUT I am NOT going to pay $9.99.

So, you have now been warned.

Update: Sunday, April 8, 2018

Today, when I went back to “Hotstar” I found at least one full-length match (i.e., Match #2) and Match #3 playing LIVE.

A supposed full replay of Match #1 was 10-hours of the ‘IPL Auction’.

I will try and check the full matches out tonight.

If they do have Full Matches — that would be GOOD and I will retract my statements.

But, as of now, I need to do more research.

“Hotstar” is a MESS. It is not structured to suit the serious cricket watcher.

Obviously run by young, excitable ADHD Indians on too much ganja

West Indies Tri-Nation Series 2016 — WI, AU & SA: After Many A Month Good To See Some ODI Cricket.

Willow Cricket (Willow TV) banner for the “West Indies Tri-Nation Series” — June 2016. Click to access Willow pages for the series.

Willow has posted some highlights, in this case Game 2, WI v. AU, on YouTube. Click to access YouTube video.

I have watched the highlights of all three matches so far. 4th match is on June 11 — which will be a busy day for cricket; 3rd Test Match England v. Sri Lanka, India v. Zimbabwe ODI and this Tri-Nation ODI.

The first three matches were good. Some great hitting vs. SA in the first match. That was fun. Match 2 was a bit short. Match 3 was exciting.

Try and catch it if you can. You will enjoy it. Good to see some ODI after all those Twenty20s

‘ONE World Sports’ (on Sling/Roku) Totally Screwed Up England v. Sri Lanka 2nd Test Highlights.

by Anura Guruge

oneworldsportssl

It is frigging amazing how much disservice we get on Roku/Sling when it comes to cricket.

Willow managed to ruin the 2016 ICC World Twenty20 with their inability to show the correct matches.

And now ‘One World Sports’ has caught the bug.

2nd Test Day 2 highlights were not broadcast on Saturday night — in the allocated 10pm slot!

On Sunday, in the 10pm slot allocated for Day 3 highlights, they showed Day 2! Actually they showed Day 2 highlights — TWICE, back-to-back, 9pm and 10pm!

Couldn’t even see Day 3 highlights Monday morning. Yet again they are showing Day 2 when the Program Guide says Day 3.

Idiots.
