I Am NOT Going To Do Restaurant TAKEOUT During The ‘Stay-At-Home’; I Did, But NO More.

I am SORRY. But, this has been bothering I.

Yes, we ordered a LOT of takeout, recently — Sunday, March 22, to be exact — and we enjoyed it for the next 3-days. It was good. It was from our favorite restaurant.

Some of YOU know that I am friends with AT LEAST 4 restaurant OWNERS — and countless folks that work at restaurants.

I sure want to help them and support them.

But, ordering and eating takeout seems counter-intuitive.

Yes, I checked the online reports that claim it is SAFE.

That Sunday we got takeout we ate it — OUTSIDE — WITHOUT first microwaving it. That was a mistake.

If you do get takeout MICROWAVE it — ZP IT GOOD — for a few minutes.

Just imagine. Somebody, asymptomatic, coughs on YOUR takeout as they are packing it.

Yes, microwaving will help. Yes, that will kill the virus (I am sure).

OK. I checked with a DOCTOR. Honest. I did. I do have cousins (who still speak to I) who are doctors. SMILE.

She, who lives in the US, tells me that she will NOT get takeout. That is good enough for I.

I had been thinking about Easter, April 12, 2020.

Where to get takeout.

Now … NO.

SMILE.

Sorry.

“West Lake Asian Cuisine”, Wolfeboro, N.H. — The Latest Reincarnation.

We went for lunch at the “West Lake” on Sunday, September 18, 2016, to celebrate the publication of my latest book, “Brain Meditation” — given that our preferred ‘Chinese‘, the “Sea Bird” is closed on Sundays during the ‘Winter’.

The “West Lake” is yet again under new management — this time since around June 2016. Supposedly owned and operated by Chinese from China.

The food, and we had some Sichuan dishes and lots of appetizers, WAS GOOD. Presentation, as yet, not what it used to be.

The inside has been redone. Quite nice but dark — and a dirty, crumpled handwritten sign, taped to the wall, that said “Restrooms –>>” was unbecoming (and at my suggestion they took it down).

I have been going to the “West Lake” for 25 years. That was when it was under the legendary leadership of ‘Peter’.

It has had its ups and downs. We were there last year too — yet again when the “Sea Bird” was closed.

I don’t think they will ever win me fully over since I am very fond of Guy and Lan at “Sea Bird” and all their other relatives. Plus, I now have this fancy “Sea Bird” cap that Guy gave me the last time we were there.

But, that said, the food was GOOD. Prices … hmmmm! Very cute. No ‘point-of-sale’ system. The bill is all in Chinese with no item prices. So a long list of Chinese followed by the TOTAL & tax. It is OK. Cute. Like going to Boston Chinatown for ‘Dim Sum‘.

Deanna found this article this evening. Not sure how she found it. Well we know someone that suffers from it! It is NOT fun. Well at least now we have something to work it. Fancy that. Misophonia. I worked out what the word means — dislike (even hatred) of sound (‘phonia’)! Read the article.

Did The Alton Central School (ACS) Board, That Voted Down ‘Common Core’, Really Give Permission For This Week’s “Code Day”?

Will the miracles never cease in Alton?

The highly astute ACS School Board that voted downCommon Core‘, whatever that vote meant, has obviously given the go ahead for ACS to participate in the Obama-sanctioned, Bill Gates endorsed, Microsoft sponsored ‘Code Day’!

Wow.

What about Local Control?

The kids will be using applications in the cloud. Heaven forbid? Has anybody checked the standards for these APPS? Are they safe for Alton kids?

Are we sure that these potentially nefarious APPS are NOT biometrically, via Webcams, sucking up all sorts of information about the kids?

Are we sure we have the right IT infrastructure at ACS to participate in such a global initiative?

Has anybody checked the STANDARDS for JavaScript? I am sure it was not developed in Alton.

This is scary. I am sure the promise of free food had all to do with this.

I am confused. Common Core is NOT ‘OK’ for ACS but ‘Code Day’ is. OK.

Not good. Could give the Church a bad name.

I checked to see how prevalent Hepatitis, a notifiable disease over there, actually is in Italy.

These two bishops supposedly caught it, in Rome, in September. They don’t, of course, have the numbers for that period — which was only last month.

But here are the numbers for Jan. – May 2013. 352 cases. So, I guess, and I could be wrong, you have to be damn unlikely to catch it — especially if you are a Catholic Bishop, a direct successor of the Apostles. What chances do mere mortals have if Bishops go around catching hepatitis in Rome.

Though my ongoing work on papal history is now widely followed and accepted, I, never having been a Christian (adopted by a prominent Sri Lankan Buddhist family and then giving up on anything spiritual altogether), am often all at sea when it comes to Christian theology — despite having a number of scholars, including Fr. Anthony Churchill of the U.K., a Licentiate of Sacred Theology (S.T.L.) from Rome no less, at hand to answer my questions and TRY to steer me in the right direction (which is never an easy task).

I saw this story on CNN yesterday. It has been widely reported all over the place since. That he supposedly caught it from contaminated food in good ol’ (and ol’ indeed) Italy has me raising my eyebrows. Of course, possible. You would normally associate hepatitis from food from a Third World country — but then again, I know that there will be folks in Europe who will gleefully claim that Italy is now a Third World country. Shame.

But, this is where I get so confused and befuddled. What did these poor folks in N.D. do to deserve this? They go to Mass and now they have all this anguish. I haven’t pinged any of my theology experts as yet BUT I have a fairly good idea of the two themes that I will get back from them: ‘no micro-management’ and ‘free will’. I can understand the ‘no micro-management’ part — just look at Obama and ObamaCare (and yes, I do appreciate that Obama thinks he is God too — which is a problem). But, the ‘free will’. Don’t get it. These are the dilemmas that occupy my mind most of the day — precluding me from getting anything productive done or earning any money.
