Wolfeboro, N.H.: ‘Last Night 2018’ Fireworks — THE Pictures.

I have always maintained that there is no such thing as a bad fireworks show. They are all good, by default and definition.
So, these fireworks, at the ungodly early hour of 6:30pm, were good. People liked them. They applauded and honked their horns. So, that alone was good.
It was sure cheerful and a nice prelude to the snowstorm that was on the way. As it transpires the timing kind of worked out. Per the weather forecasts it did start snowing sharp at 8pm.
Not that many people and Wolfeboro was rather quiet. No traffic, whatsoever.
To I, New Year’s Eve is not complete without fireworks. So, I am indeed glad that we went.

Wolfeboro, N.H.: No ‘First Night’ For 2019 (i.e., December 31, 2018) BUT There Is A ‘Last Night’.
This was also the case last year and the year before.
No ‘First Night’, with a midnight fireworks, as there used to be — instead a ‘Last Night’ that wraps up by 9pm.
An early end will not be a bad thing in 2018 since we will be getting snow/ice/rain around that time.

4-years ago, New Year’s Eve 2014 we did “First Night” in Portsmouth, New Hampshire.
We actually volunteered for “Pro Portsmouth” and I was in charge of the midnight shift at North Church when we rang in the New Years. That was a blast.
Last night was too cold for anything! For the first time in 10-years we did NOT venture went.
But, on New Year’s Day we did go to Portsmouth and then Kittery, Maine.
Had to stop by and take these pictures of the 2018 ice sculptures.

Wolfeboro, New Hampshire Fireworks — July 4, 2017.

Wolfeboro’s 4th of July 2017 fireworks, which lasted about 40-minutes since they were individually hand fired, were ‘good’ — as one would expect from this affluent town, the ‘Oldest Summer Resort in America‘.
It was another perfect evening for fireworks, temps in the low 70s and no rain for miles. There was also a very bright ‘half’ moon — that you can see in some of the pictures, to the left.
We have been going to fireworks in Wolfeboro, either the 4th of July or ‘First Night‘ or both, for the last 10-years. They are invariably good, and typically better than those in our home town of Alton (which is not as ‘rich’ — Wolfeboro the home for such luminaries as Mitt).
We always watch these fireworks from a little hill, on the Brewster Campus, by the side of their main sports field. It is the perfect vantage point since the fireworks are set off directly in front, just a few hundred yards away.
It was fun, though getting out of Brewster proved to be a nightmare.

Have A Great, Memorable New Year’s Eve: 2016 to 2017.
Wolfeboro, N.H.: No ‘First Night’ For 2017 (i.e., December 31, 2016) BUT There Is A ‘Last Night’.
I said that this was a possibility in my December 12, 2016, “No First Night” post.
Well, it has become a reality.
Shame it ends at 10pm — hence why it is ‘Last Night’ (2016) as opposed to ‘First Night’ 2017.

NO Wolfeboro, N.H. ‘First Night’ For 2017 (i.e., December 31, 2016) — OFFICIAL.
It is OFFICIAL. I called up and checked with the “Wolfeboro Area Chamber of Commerce“.
“Wolfeboro First Night“, which was so much a part of the Lakes Region scene, for 20-years is NO MORE — and has NOT been since 2014. Shame. Pity.
Yes, there will be town-sponsored fireworks, on the ‘docks’, at 6:30pm (which is WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY, WAY too early)!
Some Town Officials are hoping to do ‘something’ in the “Great Hall” of the “Town Hall” building. Details to follow.
Last year the “Wolfeboro Inn” did a ‘gala’. Not so this year.
Shame. A pity. We used to love First Night at Wolfeboro. Will have to make other plans. {SMILE}.
