First ‘Strava’, Now ‘Under Armour’ — I Suspect ALL Fitness Tracker Apps Are Vulnerable & Probably Already Compromised!

So the ‘Under Armour‘ breach, impacting 150 million users (and you read that right) took place in mid-February 2018 and we heard about it now.

What makes you think that Garmin and Fitbit has NOT been compromised? They very well could be. They either have not found or have not got around to telling us.

I am kind of resigned that all my data online is open to compromise and that this is now a fact of life.

I don’t think I have that much ‘secret’ at either Garmin or Fitbit. Following Equifax and Anthem ‘they’ already have my date-of-birth etc. I am NOT that fussed about my e-mail. That is available on the Internet.

But, I am giving you a heads up.

Just assume that any and all Fitness Tracker APPs you use are UNSAFE.

Discover Card’s FREE ‘Credit Report Activity’ Monitoring Seems To Work.

by Anura Guruge

I like my Discover Credit Card.

I have had it since 1991, i.e., I have been a member for 27-years. During that time I do not think I have ever had a problem with them.

Something about them. They just, always, seem different — but, in a GOOD WAY without fail. They just seem so eager and happy to please.

Recently, following the criminal Equifax debacle they sent me an e-mail offering FREE social security number monitoring on credit reporting services. If they saw my ‘social’ appearing on credit report they will let me know — for free. I signed up and it was easy enough.

Today, for the first time, I got this e-mail.

I checked it. It was bona fide. An new account I had opened. So, it works. I am happy.

Equifax Data Breach: Did YOU Know That Only Those With DISPUTES Were SUPPOSEDLY Affected?

by Anura Guruge

I happened to catch this CRUCIAL piece of data — i.e., only affects those that have filed a dispute — during today’s Congressional hearing. From MarketWatch.com. Click image to access video and blog at MarketWatch.com.

This, i.e., that the 143 MILLION affected by the now infamous Equifax data breach were those that were in their DISPUTE database, was news to I.

Did you know that?

IF that is TRUE, then only those that have filed a dispute with Equifax would be at risk — and NOT all of us. Moreover, it would be those that filed a dispute by CREATING an account at Equifax. I have never done that. So, in theory I am golden.

I, however, do not trust or believe Equifax on this matter. As was correctly pointed out during the Congressional hearing, Equifax has admitted that 143 MILLION Equifax ‘customers’ were affected. That is half the U.S. population. HIGHLY unlikely that all of them would have filed disputes.

So, I for one do NOT buy this. But, I thought you might find it useful.

Google it.

Also Google ‘Apache Struts‘ which was where the vulnerability was.

CCleaner (32-Bit Windows Version) Has Been HACKED — I am Totally Disgusted With Bloody Avast!

by Anura Guruge

From Time.com. Click image to access original. Google for MORE.

The CCleaner Twitter feed. Get latest on Twitter.

This is just incredible and DISGUSTING.

Bloody Avast, if not for it totally inability to show any type of humility, should be hanging their bloody heads in SHAME.

The Avast servers were HACKED! That does NOT say much about their bloody security software AND I am a customer (and have been for too many years).

But, I am going to show my displeasure in the only bloody way that Avast understand. I am going to ditch them and stop giving them the $$$ that I have done for years.

Bloody Avast.

No, I do NOT use CCleaner. No software can clean my PC better than I! {Smile} Please do remember, I have been using computers were 49 years and made a reasonable living as a computer professional for 30-years. So, I do know a bit about computers.

I have always maintained that ‘antivirus’ software (including the likes of CCleaner) are the BIGGEST and most dangerous viruses you can have on a PC.

Kaspersky — who I never, ever trusted. Equifax and now this.

I am far from amused. IF you use CCleaner get cracking. You have been raped in your sleep.
