For a start, I wasn’t sure whether any HBO or CINEMAX recordings I made will remain when the preview ended (which was today).
So far, so good but I will feel more confident tomorrow.
I think it was when I had DISH. DVR recordings only worked provided you still had the channel. So, any recordings you made disappeared when the preview ended. They tried to get you to sign-up for that channel.
As far as I can the TDS TV preview ended today. The HBO and Cinemax channels no longer appear on the Guide.
But, the FEW recordings I made are still there — and they play.
So, hope this helps.
I have had ‘TDS TV’, with considerable success and satisfaction, for one-week short of a year. This was the FIRST preview that I was aware of.
Starts tomorrow. HBO will be in 800 range. We might have to go find it off the Guide. I don’t know. My first time.
I will let you know. If you have ‘TDS TV’ enjoy. There are a few HBO movies I wouldn’t mind seeing. Not sure whether DVRing will work — after the Preview window ends.
This is quite the movie! Wow. Very moving. It sucks you right in.
Never heard of the movie or Maud Lewis, which it is about. But, I am glad I downloaded it.
Amazing story. I like a plain but bold paintings. Very inspirational. She was always happy and smiling despite all of her obvious adversity and setbacks.
YouTube trailer for the STARZ Series.
The last episode of Season 1, viz. Episode 4, aired this last Friday, April 29, 2018. That from what I see concludes the story as written by the incomparable E.M. Forster in 1910. On the STARZ Webpage there is an implication that there might be a Season 2. But, that would have to be an major embellishment to Forster’s original.
The series was immaculately produced. The cinematography was BEYOND first class; it was lavish and sumptuous. A visual treat.
I am, however, not convinced that serializing “Howards End” worked — at least for those of us that watched the episodes weekly as they came out. The weekly gap between episodes broke the spell and often you struggled to think back to the prior episode to recall the entire thread in its full glory. But, now that all four episodes are out you could watch them back-to-back.
Each episode was nominally 55-minutes. So, that is 220 minutes (3H 40 minutes) in total. So, here is something else that I found interesting. The classic 1992 movie was 142 minutes (2h 20 minutes) long. So, the STARZ version is a full one hour 18 minutes longer! What does that mean. Did they spin out the story or did the movie omit scenes. I plan to watch the movie this week, if I can.
We are glad we watched the series. We looked forward to it and are sad that it has concluded. Maybe we should have recorded all the episodes and then watched it over a couple of days.
Well, now you know what options you have.
Yes, the episodes are still available on STARZ.
“Waking Ned Devine” Trailer (on YouTube).
Very funny. Very watchable. Classic British comedy with touches of the 1960s — 1970s “Dad’s Army” — but definitely more reminiscent of 1998 “Waking Ned Devine” (though alas without any nudity involving the backsides of scrawny old men).
It was on Starz (which we got free from DISH for 3 months) and I recorded it. Glad I did. We enjoyed it. Yes, a bit corny and a tad predictable — but it is said to be based on a true story. So, I guess they had to stay somewhat close to the actual events, even at the risk of it been not-as-dramatic if it was purely fictional. Great cast of characters. Try and watch it. I am sure you will enjoy it.
Why do you need TWO?
The so called ‘International‘ channels are broadcast by a separate satellite which in a different spot in the sky.
I remembered this from 11-years ago when I first got DISH with cricket. Needed to have two antennas installed! Then I moved to ‘Sling‘ …
I tried last week to get Willow TV on DISH and ran into the 2nd DISH requirement. I could NOT be bothered since I plan to get rid of DISH before the Summer.
So, just a heads up.
You can have it, BIT you will have to wait for a DISH installation — and possibly have to pay around $100 for the privilege!
