All 3 2019 Christmas Trees Are Now Lit — Big 2 Still Need To Be Decorated.

They will look much better when fully decorated. That will be in the next two days. Today was just the lights.

The little, artificial tree is decorated but has new ornaments added daily — partly because the 2019 Lego ‘Friends Advent Calendar’ is doing tree ornaments this year.

I will keep you posted.

The 2 Non-Fake Christmas Trees Are Up (But Not Decorated) — So, All 3 Trees Are Up On The Advent.

Got these two, $35/each
from ‘Farmington Boy Scouts Troop 188’
At ‘Harley Davidson’ In Rochester, N.H.
yesterday.

Most of my work is done — i.e., buying and getting the trees inside and installed. I don’t do much of the decorating. There are enough hands for that. These two trees were BIG. Had to chop off a fair amount, on both, top and bottom. We have tree toppings so we need space at the top.

Having an electric chain saw makes it easy. SMILE. I am now even cutting vertical notches at the bottom to facilitate water absorption. Teischan, as always, helped since the trees are ‘her thing’. Wasn’t too bad. Waited until 2:30pm when the temp. was just about freezing. Felt warm and good.

No school tomorrow (Monday) because of the snow. So, I assume that some decorating will commence. Stay tuned.

We Bought 2 Christmas Trees From ‘Farmington Boy Scouts Troop 188’ At ‘Harley Davidson’ In Rochester, N.H.

Good trees. $35/each.

Exceptional service.

They will load and securely tie down.
(They know what they are doing.)

Route 11 in Rochester — ‘Harley Davidson’ dealership.

Weekends Until All Trees Sold.

Made a point of getting it from them this. We had discovered them last year and was very impressed with their exceptional service. I loved it. After decades of struggling tying down trees to the roof I can now let a couple of professionals do it — with aplomb and courtesy. Very nice group of people. Very impressive. Glad to give them the money rather than to Walmart.

They should still have trees on Sunday. They had a got 225 from Canada. They were, however, going fast — as they should.

We, as usual, got two. We are very pleased.

Third Of The Three 2018 Christmas Trees — In All Its Glory.

by Anura Guruge

Second Christmas Tree — actually the MAIN one.

First Christmas Tree — the only artificial one.

2nd & 3rd side-by-side, so to speak.

The 3rd Christmas tree, on the ground floor of this 4-story house, was the last to be decorated. But, that was last week. I just never got around to taking any decent pictures until today. Hence, the delay in posting.

Three trees as in the last couple of years — 2 real and 1 fake.

Enjoy.

Merry Christmas.

Second Of The Three 2018 Christmas Trees Are Now Decorated.

by Anura Guruge

Yesterday

Today was the day for decorating.

I brought down 7 heavy totes from above the garage. That was my contribution. Teischan has gone to town. In addition to to the trees we have various Christmas displays on the main floor of the house.

The lights have gone up on the 3rd (and last) tree too, but it has not been decorated.

All 3 2018 Christmas Trees Are In Place — 2 Yet To Be Decorated.

Teischan (12), as I may have mentioned more than once, lives, unashamedly, for Christmas — and has for most of her life, once she worked out what it was all about.

She starts talking about Christmas in September and it was no different this year though she is a year older! She started nagging me about getting the Christmas trees at Thanksgiving. I kept on saying: “in December, in December“.

We bought our Christmas trees locally in Alton last year. They were not doing trees this year. Then earlier this week, driving through Rochester we saw a sign that said that the boy scout troop will be selling Christmas trees, for $35/each, on Saturday, December 8, 2018 (and for that matter the Sunday also). Seemed like a good cause and the price was not bad. So, I agreed that today would be the day for the trees. Looking back I realize that we are 3 days behind what we were last year. No wonder she has been complaining.

Got the trees from the Scouts. Good deal. Lots of adults to help and they insisted on doing everything. For the first time ever I didn’t have to do anything. They put it on the roof and even tied it down. I was impressed. Going back to them next year, though Teischan, a connoisseur of Christmas trees, is not too happy with the two we got today. She does have a point. They both have a bald spot close to the top. Not too serious. But she noticed.

Anywho, all three trees are now up. They will decorate and put up the lights tomorrow.

Don & Sandy Pyle: Relatives Speak Of Tragic Fire On The 3rd Anniversary.

by Anura Guruge

Click images to access the ORIGINALS.

I worked with both Don & Sandy Pyle, at CASE Communications, from 1985 – 1986, and were friends enough with them that I asked Don to be my Best Man, in January 1987, when I got married in Massachusetts.

So, this fire was very close to home though I had ‘lost’ touch with them a few years earlier.

I did many posts on them, in 2015, right after the fire and I was quoted in various Baltimore newspapers.

I think of them often, especially around Christmas and this period.

This year we managed to get both of our real trees out of the house on January 5 — one day ahead of the traditional (an obligatory) January 6. There name did get mentioned. What a shame. I feel so bad for the parents.

So …

We really should need the lesson. Get those Christmas trees out by January 6.
