George Pell Will Not Be The First Cardinal To Be Imprisoned; But He Will Be First For Sodomy.

Cardinals going to prison is nothing new.

During the Middle Ages various imperial powers, or in some instances disgruntled popes, would imprison cardinals that they took a dislike to — often to prevent them voting at conclaves.

Then during the last century we had political imprisonments — mainly by communist countries. One well know example was Chinese Cardinal Ignatius Kung who was imprisoned for over 30-years for dissent. He remained a cardinal throughout.

Then there was also Hungarian Cardinal József Mindszenty. He too spent 8-years in prison — yet again he remained a cardinal throughout.

But, things are different with the dirty old bugger, George Pell. What he has been convicted of is that of sodomizing a child!

He will be the first cardinal to be imprisoned for sodomy.

The mind boggles as to what kind of reception he will receive in an Australian prison. I doubt that Australian prisoners take too kindly to old men who sodomize kids.

He most likely will be forced to resign his cardinalate. He will be the 2nd to do so, after Theodore McCarrick, since 1927.

No cardinalate resignations for 90-years, then 2 in one-year!

James A. Michener, Based On His ‘Tales of the South Pacific’, Might Have Been A Closet Racist!

by Anura Guruge

Do not get me wrong. I am a HUGE fan of James A. Michener, as the photo below of my little ‘shrine’ to him in my library amply testifies. Also, if you do a SEARCH of this Blog (using the included SEARCH feature) of ‘Michener‘ you will see that I rave about him.

I know he was a good man, had a good heart and was a true philanthropist.

But, I finished reading his acclaimed, award-winning ‘Tales of the South Pacific‘ (1947) and I was NOT impressed. There were parts in it which were very disturbing. Yes, I appreciate that he wrote per 1946 standards BUT his tone and timbre when he deals with non-whites is patently wrong and offensive.

He repeatedly calls Polynesians and Chinese SAVAGES. I show but three examples above. There are more. Go to Amazon and use the electronic ‘Look Inside‘ feature. You can search for words with that. Type in ‘savages’.

You could NOT get away with that today.

Polynesians and Chinese?

Yes, that I am Asian probably makes me a tad more sensitive than others.

I like Polynesians and Chinese. They are NOT savages.

He also is very dismissive of American blacks in the forces. YIKES.

I also question his sexual-orientation. He comes across as ‘not that partial to women‘. Yes, I know he was thrice married and his last wife was Japanese. But, he was more than happy to leave his first wife for long periods of time and he was childless. Hhhmmm.

I was looking forward to reading this book. I had just finished ‘The Covenant‘. Yes, there were bits in there that raised my eyebrows and hackles, but nothing like what I encountered, alas, with ‘Tales of the South Pacific’.

No Sympathy For Jeff Bezos; 53-Year Old Who Does ‘Dick Pictures’ Deserves To Be Exposed.

by Anura Guruge

Click image to access original. Google for more coverage.

Why Jeff Bezos, 53-years old & the world’s richest man, felt a need to send ‘dick pictures’ confounds me.

He is 53. Has 4 kids.

I am not joking. I just don’t get it. He is past middle-age. Why does he feel a need to send ‘dick pictures’?

He totally deserved to be exposed!

I think he has issues. Something has got to be wrong. I am pretty sure that most 53-year old men do not send ‘dick pictures’.

He should be so ashamed of himself. Doesn’t matter that it is claimed that he has a BIG ‘dick’. He should not be sending ‘dick pics’. He is old enough to be grandfather.

I feel bad of his kids. One of them an adopted Chinese.

What he did was so wrong. A sick man.

Flowers Of ‘China Palace’, Rochester, NH — Thanksgiving 2018.

Our tradition of having Chinese on all major holidays — Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas — has been fairly well documented in this blog.

The last two years we have ended up going to ‘China Palace’ in Rochester at Thanksgiving — because it is the ONLY Chinese place open locally! That is the only two times we have been there — which is ironic. It is NOT a bad place. Decent food, very nice staff (albeit all ‘white’ with no Chinese in sight), interesting decor with a fair amount of flowers — real and fake.

I had to take some pictures of the flowers and share them with you.

Honestly NOT a bad place. Decent, competitively priced food and cocktails. Will recommend it. I am going to make a point of trying to go there outside of Thanksgiving.

Would You Put A Statue Of Jesus In Fish Tank At A Chinese Restaurant?

I was both surprised and amused to see this in what was quite a big & fancy fish tank at the ‘new’ ‘Eastern Paradise‘ Chinese restaurant in Rochester, New Hampshire.

What were — or what are — they thinking?

Yes, there are UNLIKELY to be many Buddhists in Rochester.

People, even the Chinese would never think of putting images of Jesus in unusual surroundings — but they have no compunction when it comes to the Buddha. Maybe it is because they kind of know that he is not around. He is a goner. Attained ‘nirvana’ — meaning he ceased to exist.

Not as BAD as the Incense Dispenser I saw at T.J. Maxx in 2016!

Then there was also the Buddha inside a snow globe!

If I was the restaurant owner I would have had second thoughts about this. Not the smartest thing in the world to do.

What do YOU think?

They have been open for a few months. This, however, was our first time there, and it sure will not be the last. Very good, positive experience. Good buzz. Busy (but, it was Friday night). Good food, upscale menu, decently-priced cocktails (with cute, topless ‘scorpion bowls’), engaging staff and modern, airy & bright interior (with some very fancy LED lights).

A bit fancy for Rochester! But, I am glad. It will help Rochester reinvent its image.

Interesting menu with items that I have not seen on other Chinese menus — and as any reader of this blog knows we are no strangers to Chinese eateries.

I had the ‘Honey Walnut Chicken‘. They were RIGHT about it on the menu. You had to try it. It was different and appetizing. Something different, plus I am a sucker fort nuts. Deanna had the ‘Sizzling Seafood Festival‘ and it was pretty spectacular with even a lobster tail. Spicy, but just so. It was much appreciated. Teischan had her usual chicken fried rice and was sated. There was a lot of it and, of course, we brought the remainder home.

As always, we also had a (small) Pu Pu Platter, Scallion Pancakes & Peking Ravioli. We are Scallion Pancake connoisseurs — and these were GOOD. Yes, the right amount of scallion and crisp to the bite.

We all agreed that it was good and that this was a keeper.

Leaving the restaurant, around 8pm, heard a boy (of about 11) tell his mother how good it was! So, that was confirmation.

You should definitely give it a try. I doubt whether you will be disappointed. I gather that it is busy most nights, but I assume it is a tad less busy on a Monday or a Tuesday. And yes, they are over 7-days a week, till at least 10pm.
