U.S. House Approves $1 ‘Christa McAuliffe’ Coin To Be Minted -> Proceeds To Benefit ‘FIRST Robotics’.

This is BIG for New Hampshire & the FIRST Robotics program. The bill to make this happen passed the U.S. House this last Thursday with bipartisan support.

The bill instructs the U.S. Mint to issue 350,000 $1 silver coins to commemorate Christa Mcauliffe, the NH science teacher who died in the January 1986 ‘Challenger’ Space Shuttle disaster. The proceeds from the sale of this coin will go to benefit the FIRST Robotics initiative.

The bill, however, has to be be approved by Donald Trump. That should not be a problem, since Christa, in marked contrast to Harriet Tubman, is white & good-looking. Well, it had to be said, and few others will, though they will think it.

‘Period Poverty’ Bill, Spearheaded By Schoolgirl, Becomes New Hampshire Law — Something To Be Proud Of.

by Anura Guruge

I am SO impressed, so happy. This is so pro-female, pro-children. It is great. I am so proud of her — Caroline Dillion. I do not know her but wish her all the best and hope she goes far. Maybe a FUTURE president. She will be good.

As a father of three daughters, who still lives in a house with three females I surely can relate to this. SMILE.

That there could be kids in the U.S. that don’t have access to these essential products is criminal.

I am so glad that New Hampshire is putting this right.

I have no idea. But, what will it increase my property tax bill by — $10/year. I, for one, am happy to pay. I will even pay more. SMILE.

Reading about this MADE MY DAY!

Medicare Supposedly Pays $17,000 For A Knee Replacement, Only Paid $5,596 For My Knee Surgery.

My Bill for Knee Surgery.

I had my quadriceps tendon repair surgery,
at ‘
Frisbie Memorial Hospital‘ —
performed by Dr. Charles Blitzer
of ‘Seacoast Orthopedics
on Thursday, March 7, 2019.

There was no pain to talk about
— throughout, from surgery to now.

Knee replacement, of course, is a much more involved procedure with expensive hardware involved. In my case they only had to insert 3 small ‘fiber’ plugs. So, there was no hardware costs. But, it just goes to show.

Yes, I know of doctors that will NOT accept Medicare patients just for this reason. The lower reimbursement. Not sure whether this applies to surgeons, especially orthopedic surgeons. They must get most of their business from old codgers like I who need knee and hip replacement — though I was, of course, different.

That huge 100% price differential is NOT RIGHT. It is worse if you don’t have insurance. Hospitals really rape you. I know. Dartmouth-Hitchcock raped me — anally at that.

There has to be a middle-path. Between the Medicare amount and what other insurances pay.

This is why the U.S. healthcare system is so screwed up.

I am sure glad I have Medicare — with the Humana Advantage overlay on top of it (which costs me NOTHING).

“West Lake Asian Cuisine”, Wolfeboro, N.H. — The Latest Reincarnation.

by Anura Guruge

Click pictures to ENLARGE.

Attribution WILL be enforced.

We went for lunch at the “West Lake” on Sunday, September 18, 2016, to celebrate the publication of my latest book, “Brain Meditation” — given that our preferred ‘Chinese‘, the “Sea Bird” is closed on Sundays during the ‘Winter’.

The “West Lake” is yet again under new management — this time since around June 2016. Supposedly owned and operated by Chinese from China.

The food, and we had some Sichuan dishes and lots of appetizers, WAS GOOD. Presentation, as yet, not what it used to be.

The inside has been redone. Quite nice but dark — and a dirty, crumpled handwritten sign, taped to the wall, that said “Restrooms –>>” was unbecoming (and at my suggestion they took it down).

I have been going to the “West Lake” for 25 years. That was when it was under the legendary leadership of ‘Peter’.

It has had its ups and downs. We were there last year too — yet again when the “Sea Bird” was closed.

I don’t think they will ever win me fully over since I am very fond of Guy and Lan at “Sea Bird” and all their other relatives. Plus, I now have this fancy “Sea Bird” cap that Guy gave me the last time we were there.

But, that said, the food was GOOD. Prices … hmmmm! Very cute. No ‘point-of-sale’ system. The bill is all in Chinese with no item prices. So a long list of Chinese followed by the TOTAL & tax. It is OK. Cute. Like going to Boston Chinatown for ‘Dim Sum‘.

Laconia Continues To Stoke The New Hampshire “Free Female Nipple” Movement!

From Thursday, March 3, 2016 “The Laconia Daily News“.

I could NOT believe this when I saw it in the “Laconia Daily Mail” last week. I knew we were close to April Fool’s day BUT, alas and alak, this was not a prank.

What is Laconia trying to achieve? What is Laconia trying to prove? A Laconia judge has already ruled, twice, that local ‘anti-toplessness’ ordinances do NOT Trump New Hampshire’s “female toplessness is not a crime” law. Attempts to change that law failed just a couple of months ago. So how does Laconia think that they can get around this when Gilford could not.

Yes, I understand Laconia’s concern about ‘Bike Week’. Been there, seen that. Long time ago a female that I was with, while visiting Bike Week (from Meredith) by boat, was urged, repeatedly, by men standing on the Weirs overpass bridge to ‘bare a chest’. Much to my surprise, given that she was not noted for being shy or inhibited, she was mortified! She rushed into the cubby cabin of the boat and refused to come out. That was interesting.

So, let us NOT do a Trump on this; i.e., blame/punish the woman. Toplessness, per NH law, remains a WOMAN’S CHOICE. Pro-Choice when it comes to toplessness. But keep and enforce the ordinance that says that men can be arrested and fined for ‘asking’ women to bare it all (though I have a feeling that this would not also hold up in court due because of 1st Amendment AND because you are not asking the lady to do anything that is a crime in NH.

To I this is all crazy. Just let it be. Pro-Choice for women.

IF Your Eversource (PSNH) Bill In May Is $40 – $200 Higher … Do NOT Panic!

by Anura Guruge

IF they have your e-mail they should have sent you an e-mail a few weeks ago. Eversource (‘Eversore‘ as I call them) are transitioning towards ‘Automated Meter Reading‘. This has screwed up when the February reading was done.

So rather than your bill being for the usual ‘month’, i.e., 28 – 34 days, the March bill could be for a 40+ day period. Mine was for 41 days. So that explains the ONE-TIME spike (hopefully).

So check your bill. Check the date range and it will say so.

Click to ENLARGE and read. My bill. 41 days.

From my March 3, 2016 “6 Images Post”. What a NEW ‘Meter Read Remotely’ meter looks like. This was for a closed for the winter lake cabin.

HB 1525 DEFEATED — Female Nipples Remain FREE In New Hampshire: Let’s Keep It That Way.

by Anura Guruge

Click to ENLARGE and read here. Use link above to access “Laconia Daily Sun” original (you need logon/password).

From Thursday, March 3, 2016 “The Laconia Daily News“.

This is wonderful news, though not that surprising given that the proposed law looked constitutionally suspect from the start.

To say I am RELIEVED would be the understatement of the day.

As I have tried to explain, until my poor testicle turned blue, my annoyance with the so called ‘Movement’ was that they were TRYING to free something AFTER they found out that it was already free.

That is like me trying to whip up support to free interracial marriage. You can’t free something that is already free, and agitating to free something that is free FREAKS out people.

We dodged a bullet. Let’s please stop the insanity. EXERCISE your FREEDOM. Don’t protest it.

The Female Nipple REMAINS FREE in New Hampshire. It is a GLORIOUS thing. Keep it that way. Don’t jeopardize the freedom.

Long Live The Free Nipple In New Hampshire and Everywhere.
