The Fitbit ‘Versa 2’ Gets The Ultimate Accolate — My Wife Loves It!

To appreciate the truly monumental magnitude of this endorsement by my wife, you have to understand 5 germane facts:

  1. My wife is not new to fitness trackers or Fitbit; she actually was a very early adopter of Fitbit and had their original clip-on tracker 10-years ago.
    ….
  2. My wife has, and usually wears, a Garmin Vivosport with GPS and has owned a Fitbit Alta HR & Flex 2.
    ….
  3. My wife, earlier this year, wore both a Fitbit ‘Versa Lite‘ and a ‘Inspire HR‘ and was not overly impressed.
    ….
  4. My wife is very fussy about what she will wear on her wrist (and it takes a lot of convincing on my part to get her to try these watches that I get for evaluation).
    ….
  5. My wife is the dream demographics for this Fitbit.
    ….

I was blown away. She likes her Garmin and could not wait to take the ‘Versa Lite’ and the ‘Inspire HR’ off a wrist. The Versa 2 she loves. And the reason is fairly simple. The BRIGHT, BIG AMOLED display. AMOLED displays, when properly implemented are addictive. They look so bright, crisp, vivid and appealing. So, it is basically the display, and display alone! Everything else she pretty much got with her Garmin — which has GPS to boot. But, she never uses the GPS.

This is good news for Fitbit. My wife is THE target market for this Apple Watch ‘killer’. If my wife loves it, so will legions of other females. And that, as far as Fitbit is concerned, should be all that matters.

Yes, of course, I got it from ‘Heart Rate Monitors USA‘, (HRM USA). Who else? I get ALL my smartwatches from them — no exceptions.

‘Apple Watch Series 5’ Looks Good, Of Course, & Attractively Priced — BUT Only Has 18-Hour Battery Life.

18-hour battery life still does not cut it. I would say you need, at a minimum, double that to make it competitive with the likes of say a Garmin.

But, at $400, it is attractively priced and, as always, looks impressive.

Not sure why Apple struggles so with battery life. Some folks are now getting 2-weeks.

But, this is good for us Garmin fans. We can still make fun and look down our noses at Apple Watch wearers.

From everything that I have seen on TV about the Apple iWatch it is going to be MUCH MORE distracting that a smartphone.

People driving around, especially on I-93 (or equivalent) with an iWatch on their wrist SCARES me. This is NOT FUNNY.

I am pretty sure that the cell phone ban that comes into play on July 1, 2015 in New Hampshire will NOT cover smart watches.

Something has to be done.

I dread that we will get the first Apple iWatch related traffic fatality this weekend — within 48 hours of it becoming available. That is not a pleasant thought. It could be somebody that YOU or I know!

Not an easy problem to solve. This is more serious than DWI!

About an hour ago, while getting dressed (after my run), I saw a bimbo (and she indeed was one), on CNBC, glibly talking about her experiences DRIVING while wearing the new Apple Watch. She also volunteered that she had also been ‘told off’  — along the lines of “that is very distracting” — at a recent business meeting for continually glancing down at her watch, on her wrist, every time it beeped, vibrated whatever.

Distracted driving scares me, especially since nearly all young drivers do not seem to be able to drive unless they have GPS.

I dread that the Apple Watch is going to result in TOO MANY accidents. From what I can see, unless they act very, very quickly, the current ‘Distracted Driving’ laws will NOT cover the Apple Watch. Technically it is NOT a cell phone. Plus it will be difficult for the police to enforce Apple Watch wearing while driving.

The Watch is going to be more distractive than a phone per se since it is attached to your wrist and it ‘does things’. People will GLANCE DOWN at their wrist. Worse still they will move their hands, and with it the steering wheel, to look at the Watch.

This is going to be a problem. I am SURE Apple has warnings and disclaimers on the packaging that comes with the Watch. But how do you stop a person from USING their Apple Watch when driving? I am a loyal, long term APPL shareholder though we haven’t had a single Apple product in the house for well over 15 years!

This bothers me. Deaths will come. Right now 9 deaths a DAY due to distracted driving. That is 9 too much. What do YOU think?
