Another Half A MILLION Step Month — 1.53 Million Steps In The Last 3-Months.

Best month so far. 524,416-steps in July. Prior best, May 2020, was 505,552. So, I am chuffed. Yes, I set out to make sure that this will be a 500,000-step month. It having 31-days helps, though this month, unlike May, I did the 500K steps by the 30th. The 31st was just a bonus. SMILE.

What can I say. It is ONE of the things I do. I WALK.

I KNOW that there are those that walk more than this, BUT, I am HAPPY.

Yes, I could easily walk more, the problem is that of TIME — my eternal nemesis. I now spend around 2.25 hours a day walking. That is a BIG chunk of time for I. SMILE.

I did NOT set out to walk ~500,000 steps a day.

I just changed ONE metric in my life. For 30-years I had followed this ‘3-days ON, 1-day OFF‘ paradigm. One day of rest, after each 3 days of exercise to let muscles recover. BUT, that was when I used to run — as opposed to walk. I don’t stress my muscles & body as much now. I still run — but not daily, and never too far. Yes, I am still ‘babying’ my knee after my quad tendon surgery last year. SMILE.

On my days off I walked less than 10K steps — INTENTIONALLY.

Then on April 17, 2020, I stopped doing that. I decided to TRY & hit 10K every day — though aiming for less than 16K steps on my days off.

And this is the result. I am happy.

Am I fit. I think I am OK for somebody who will be 67 in 2-months.

My VO2 Max is 42 & per Garmin my fitness age … Well, this picture says it all.



Am I happy & content. Hhhhhm.

I would like to lose another 10 pounds & get my VO2 Max. up. But, beggars can’t be choosers.

I do NOT DELUDE myself. All of this means NOTHING. I can have a stroke or a heart-attack TODAY. SMILE. I am not totally stupid — just partially. SMILE.

But, I like walking. I take pictures while I walk. I, quite literally, smell the roses. I think. I am happy.

I Walked Close To A MILLION-Steps (964,878) In The Last 60-Days (16K/Day).

Yes, each to their own.

So, this is how I spent SOME of my COVID-19 2-months — walking more than I ever have.

BIG change is that I tried NOT to drop below 10K — even once.

Prior to that I was happy to drop below 10K one-day every 4-days or so. I tried to stop that. Keep 10K as a minimum.

So, you can now see what I will next be shooting for. 1 MILLION miles in 2-months. SMILE.

Well, I am HAPPY. Very happy. Yes, exercise keeps you happy.

I Walked 500,000 Steps In May 2020 (Per My Garmin Fenix 6).

Most steps I have ever (as far as I know) walked in a month.

That it had 31-days certainly helped.

16,308 steps a day.

Three to four days a week I try to walk 17,000 to 18,000 steps a day. That is around 7 to 8 miles. SMILE.

2,220 miles walked in the year.

That chuffs me up. I like to think how far that is, if I start walking west from here. I would be well beyond Chicago.

Well, I am happy. Walking makes & keeps me happy. SMILE.
