Seriously Considering Switching To ‘Foxit’ ‘PhantomPDF’ In Preference To Adobe Acrobat.

I have been using ‘Adobe Acrobat‘ for decades — since the mid 1990s!
I have never really got to like it. I think of ‘Acrobat’ as a pain.
I have had ‘Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro’ since about 2009. I am OK with it. It does what I need.
But, ‘Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro‘ is NOT supposed to work with ‘Windows 10’ & the next PC I get will have to have ’10’. 7 no longer gets security updates.
The latest Acrobat prices are CRAZY. Yes, I can afford to get it, BUT it feels like exploitation — especially given my limited need & use of Acrobat.
So, I am going to give ‘PhantomPDF‘ a try.
Yes, of course, I will keep YOU posted. Cheers.

The ‘Dell’ ‘G5 Gaming Desktop PC’ Is Woefully Short Of ‘Juice’ & Cooling.

Yes, another year has gone by & I have still NOT got myself a new PC. This is CRAZY. I appreciate that. I really am on borrowed time now. This PC is 11-years old! 11-years old.
It is NOT funds. Mainly that I have been too busy. I wrote & published 4, 5 or 6 books last year. I really am not sure as to how many. It was at least 4. That much I know.
So, I am yet again in PC shopping mode. I have now decided I am going to buy one online. I just CANNOT find a local person that I am comfortable with.
I happened to look at the Dell G5.
All the specs — highly customizable — are GOOD, bar the cooling fans & power supply (PSU). Dell does NOT let you UPGRADE them.
The PSU & the cooling is BARELY adequate. Yes, of course, it will work, BUT you really are ‘on the knife edge’.
You are close to the top limit of the PSU & the cooling is a joke.
So, I Googled. I was right.
The G5 will RUN HOT & I do NOT like HOT PCs. Many things I like hot, BUT NOT PCs.
So, I am giving YOU a HEADS UP so that you won’t get into trouble.

COVID-19 Notwithstanding, I Got About In 2020 — As Attested By ‘Google Maps’.

It is SCARY that Google keeps track of EVERYWHERE I go!
Well, this is there summary of my travels in 2020 — COVID-19 or NO COVID-19.
In the end I travelled as much as I normally would have — THOUGH I did not take any type of public transport, get ANY takeout or go to a restaurant as of March 2020. So, all of these trips were road trips — many of them documented here.
The COVID restrictions did NOT start applying to us till mid-March. By then we had already done two trips — one to Newport, Rhode Island & the other to Rockland, Maine.
Then right through the Summer it was Day Trips — though one involved a 9-hour drive.
Then as of late August we made the trip South — all the way to North Carolina.
