Facebook ‘Marketplace’ NEW ‘Shipping Option’ Works, Works Well — & Makes It Better Than eBay.
In the past, with Facebook ‘Marketplace’ you either had to hope for local sales or rely on using PayPal (or equivalent) to obtain payment & then sort out your own shipping.
Not anymore. Facebook ‘Marketplace’ now has a NIFTY built-in ‘SHIPPING’ option with Facebook collecting the payment & supplying a shipping label.
I listed an item earlier this week. Facebook notified me of the new ‘shipping’ option & to entice me (totally) sadi that they will pay for the shipping. That was quite the enticement. They were ALSO NOT charging any fees or commission. WOW.
So, I would get, 100%, of the selling price of the item.
Facebook was paying for the shipping & there were no fees that were going to be deductible.
OF COURSE there was a catch. FB hold onto the payment for a week or so! Unlike eBay/PayPal you do NOT get paid when the buyer pays. Instead FB holds onto it. They don’t release it until the item is DELIVERED. Then, they still reserve 5-days to pay you. So, I still haven’t got paid. SMILE.
But, ….
I am impressed. It worked well. They, like eBay, provide built-in tracking.
They are setting themselves up to compete with eBay head-to-head. That is good. eBay had become complacent. This is good.
Try it out. I am sure you will like it. I did.
