Look closely at #1. That is my 14-year old daughter who has been scrambling up these rocks, each year, for the last 7-years.

What Am I Thinking: HOW & WHY Are We, The ‘Sapiens’, Standing Singularly Alone?
I drove for 9.5 hours, to Acadia & back, Wednesday/Thursday of this week. That gave me a LOT of time to THINK. And this was one of the THINKS that popped into my stack & kept me THINKING.
Evolution, at least within our niche in the world (meaning the ‘Ape’ family (& i.e., Hominoidea)) seems to have STOPPED.
Chimps & gorillas don’t seem to be getting any smarter? Shouldn’t they. That is how we came to be us. We evolved. While I don’t expect chimps to be us, why haven’t they got CLOSER.
Also, within the ‘Homo Erectus‘ family. There were a LOT of splits & we & the Neanderthals lived side-by-side for quite a long time.
NO MORE. We are alone.
How come we haven’t seen a SPLIT?
Worth THINKING about. Well worth THINKING about.
I came home & serendipitously found this book. I have been listening to it, as an Amazon Audible (for FREE), yesterday & today — during my 100-minute walks.
Bingo. The book addresses my concern right up front.
So, it would appear that this was a GOOD THINK.
I am not done yet. The book hasn’t answered all my questions. But, it has given me more to TH

The ‘Garmin Fenix 6 Solar’ Carbon Grey Titanium Comes In A Fancy BIG Box.
Vast improvement on the
‘Blue/White‘ model that I hated
& returned within the day!
The ‘blue/white’ came in the STANDARD,
fairly small & compact
Garmin Box.
NOT as fancy, by far, as the HUGE
plastic box Garmin uses with the MARQ.
Amusing & cute. Yes, Garmin is, of course, trying to JUSTIFY the $1,099.99 price. Hhmmm. $229 of that is the strap. Heavy unfunctional strap! I am sending the strap back to ‘heartratemonitorsUSA‘. Yes, I evaluate watches for them. SMILE.
Nice enough watch. Far, far superior looking to the butt ugly ‘blue/white’ one. I cannot believe I initially picked it.
TRUTH be told, I WISH Garmin had made the SILVER Titanium as with the MARQ or my other Fenix 6. The Silver Titanium looks REAL good. My favorite. But, I can live with this one. SMILE.

We Saw Comet NEOWISE (i.e., C/2020 F3) From New Hampshire, Tonight — Even Got A Blurry Picture.
We, i.e., Teischan (14) & I, saw it at around 10pm Friday night, from Alton, New Hampshire. We were on ‘Ridge Road’, by the side of ‘Prospect Mountain‘ — about 2-miles from home. It is high up & gets you above the treeline. We lucked out in terms of clouds. Few around, but lots of gaps.
I saw it, through a pair of 10×50 Zeiss binoculars on the VERY 1st look. Couldn’t see it at 1st with just my glasses. Took the binoculars out, put them to my eyes, turned around & looked.
BINGO! It was right there in the middle. Could see the tail clearly. I had to take a double take to make sure. Nope, that was it.
Teischan, though she wears glasses, could see it without the binoculars. After awhile, once my eyes got accustomed (& we had a fair amount of car & bike traffic going by with their lights on), I too could see it naked-eye, BUT it was very faint.
Unless you were looking for it & saw it, it is not something that will catch your eye.
It will get brighter over the next 6-days.
It will be CLOSEST to Earth on Thursday, July 23, 2020. Weather permitting that will be our best shot of seeing it in its full glory.
I was psyched. The DAY my Comet NEOWISE book gets published on Amazon — I get to see it for the 1st time. That was special. I was excited. I was happy.
