Not bad? Not bad, at all. Quite the collection. We lucked out. I also made a point of stopping to smell the roses — quite literally. Enjoy. SMILE.

Untended Rose Growing Over An Unmarked Grave — CONTEMPLATE.

by Anura Guruge

An old, basically abandoned graveyard on a backroad. I found it during my walks.

This rose caught my eye. Went closer to take a picture. Noticed the white fence. But, that was IT. Nothing else. No headstone or marker.

The other graves were not nearby. And the the rose was in the middle. Must be a grave underneath & at some point somebody planted that ROSE.

Contemplate.

This is life. This is death. Life goes on. Roses will continue to grow. The rose nurtured by what lays below.

Brilliant Article Re. My Main Man, ‘Gordon Greenidge’ By ‘Mark Nicholas’.

by Anura Guruge

That I named my son after him must say it all as to who & what I think about this great man. As I have said, many times, no man has given me greater pleasure than ‘Gordon Greenidge‘. I wanted my son to be ‘Gordon Guruge’ (GG) — same as Gordon. His mother & her family, ardent Catholics all, claimed that ‘Gordon’ was too Jewish a name! This was long time ago & I did NOT know any better. Since then I have come to know a lot of Jews & I have yet to meet a Gordon. So, I relented that ‘Gordon’ would be his middle name. NO! ‘Matthew’ is NOT Biblical. Named after ‘Matthews Southern Comfort‘ (with Ian Matthews). One of my favorite groups at the time — & I have always liked Ian Matthews.

I was a fully paid up member of the Hampshire Cricket Club (HCC) from 1975 to about 1982 (& I left Britain in 1985 (for what was meant to be 2-years in the States)). So, I was at Hampshire during SOME of the glory days of Gordon (not to mention Barry Richards, Andy Roberts & Malcolm Marshall). Yes, I even saw Mark Nicholas play.

I, of course, knew Gordon & he knew me by sight. I saw him occasionally away from cricket grounds & he would always stop to chat. Very nice guy.

Much of what Mark talks about in this article was AFTER I (alas) left the U.K.

Mark writes well as you would expect of a man of his erudition. This made my day. I wanted to share this with YOU. Enjoy.

Thank YOU, Gordon. Hope you are well. SMILE.
