Garter snake new hampshire Anura Guruge

On the road, by our mailbox.

Not very big. But, BIG ENOUGH! SMILE. Though I come from King Cobra country I don’t like snakes — maybe because I grew up with poisonous snakes all around.

I tried to move this one along … to the other side of the road. Then I saw that it had been run over. [Not by I. Honest.] You can see the blood in the picture. They blend into the road. So, you can’t see them.

Well, one less snake to worry about.

Yes, it is a common or garden Garter — and not one of the Timber Rattlers we are supposed to have on THIS ROAD! I just don’t seem to be able to get away from snakes. Maybe I should move to Ireland.

Comet C/2020 F8 (SWAN) Still Elusive In The North, Though It Put On Quite The Show ‘Down Below’.

By Diego Toscan, in Argentina — and it looks like it was shot with a telescope.

It is BARELY naked-eye visible in the North — and it is very low, in the very early mornings — in the NW sky.

Very low & borderline naked-eye.

It could — it should get — brighter. Perihelion is on May 27, 2010. 10-days away.

On May 13 it was at its closest to Earth.

Fingers crossed. It is up there. Just not that visible.

This has been the story, when it comes to comets, in the Northern Hemisphere.
