This year end ‘Thank You’ video (at Vimeo) is now becoming another Revels (Cambridge) tradition. A nice touch. A welcome year-end reminder, when the days are truly dark and damp, for those of us who were fortunate enough to attend a performance, as to the ever uplifting gaiety of a Revels. For those, alas, who could not attend, it gives you a quick glimpse of what Revels was all about.

We attended the December 19th show. The sixth, seventh or eighth  Revels we have attended at Cambridge. Overall, I have been to about 20 between Revels North & Cambridge.

2019 Revels, by definition, was good. They are all good. That goes without saying. It wasn’t the best. The backdrop was the 1930s Dust Bowl and as such it wasn’t as gay as if it was set in a Stately Home in Europe. SMILE. But, it was OK and that is what counts. We wouldn’t have missed it for the world. Already looking forward to 2020 Revels in Cambridge.

Enjoy this ‘Thank You’ video. It captures what it is all about.

Happy New Year 2020.

We Now Have 9 USB Charging Ports In Our Kitchen!

by Anura Guruge

Yes, it is a fairly large kitchen (though I have been in others that are muh, much, much larger) and given that it was built in 2006 (when they were generous on this matter) it has 6 dual socket power outlets — as well as a phone jack and a 220V outlet for the stove.

Yes, I guess we have a few electronics between us, THOUGH I don’t charge many things in the kitchen. We basically have USB charging ports (maybe even stations) in every room — and, of course, on either side of the bed.

I though 5 was enough. I was overruled so right after Christmas I had to order the latest ‘outlet’ (the one shown on the left) with 4 USB ports. I think we will be OK for awhile. I won’t even mention how many charging ports/cables we carry in EACH car. You would think we were dependent on USB. SMILE.

Will Pope Francis Promote Filipino Cardinal Tagle To Be A Cardinal Bishop?

As a senior curialist Luis Tagle is definitely entitled to now be a Cardinal Bishop. Plus, a pope can promote any one to the order (i.e., to be a Cardinal Bishop) at his whim. Totally his prerogative as are so many things within his Church.

There is a genuine vacancy that has gone unfilled since early September.

Furthermore, now that he got Sodano to ‘resign’ the Deanship is vacant and the Cardinal Bishops, among themselves, will have to elect a new Dean in the next few weeks. The pope will want the vacancy filled before that election.

This does NOT mean that Tagle will be the new Dean. SMILE. He will be the most junior of the Cardinal Bishops.

And even if he is made a Cardinal Bishop he will NOT be the next pope, unless we don’t have a conclave for another 13- to 14-years. SMILE.

Making Tagle a Cardinal Bishop will be quite a statement. One that the pope might be happy to make. It will make a lot of people very happy.

I will tell you who I think will be the next Dean in my next post. SMILE.
