I Will MISS Elijah Cummings — He Was A MAN.

I was shocked. I was even more shocked when I discovered that he was only 68-years old! Just 2-years older than I.

I saw him on TV just a few days ago — and it might have been a clip from late Summer. He was walking into a hearing using a walker. Surprised I. I had not realized that he had been infirm. But, I also thought he was older than 68.

He was QUITE the MAN.

Somebody, and we all know who, should do his utmost, if he is capable, of not criticizing or denigrating this great man, in his death, as he has done with John McCain, another national hero. Mr. Cummings was loved and respected across the spectrum. As with John McCain people will not take kindly to any disrespect for him. At tragic loss. We should honor his legacy and try to learn from it.

Thank YOU, Mr. Cummings

KUDOS To Eversource (PSNH) They Did GOOD In The October 17, 2019 Storm.

I am the first to bust their chops and rant-&-rave when they have an ‘uncalled’ for outage. But, in the same token I do give them credit when they do good.

They did good today.

Immensely exceeded my expectations (though my expectations were not very high and I was hunkering down for a 3-day outage).

Yes, the winds did howl early this morning. Woke us up.

I was HOPING that we would not lose power but we did — not sure when, maybe around 4am (possibly earlier).

I knew they wouldn’t even TRY to restore power prior to daylight, provided the rains & winds abated.

I had a cup of coffee in bed around 8:30, as is my won’t. We have a gas stove and that still work.

Then, suitably sustained, I went out and hooked up our two generators in a slight rain. They both worked first time, which is always a relief. Got everything squared away. Had power. Started taking my shower.

Power came back. Must have been around 10am. I am IMPRESSED and THANKFUL.

I let the generators run for another 40-minutes while I completed my ablutions. I like to get them an extended run every few months to stop them from rusting.

So, all was good.

Not so with BLOODY Atlantic Broadband. They have a widespread outage NOT related to the storm. They really suck.

Another Bloody ‘Atlantic Broadband’ Outage, Oct. 17, 2019 — And It Is NOT Storm-Related!

IF it was storm-related I would cut them slack. But, it is NOT.

It is their now rather familiar: ‘fiber accidentally cut & oh! We also had a fire‘.

Heard this at least twice before. This is NOT acceptable.

Luckily, because I, given my 45-years in the computer industry, is into REDUNDANT hardware/services also have a TDS Internet feed to the house. Yes, I pay TWO Internet bills each month. I am lucky like that. Yes, so we have two separate Wi-Fi networks. One from ABB and the other from TDS.

But, I like my main PC, i.e., this, to be hardwired. And today for the first time I did it! 2.5 years ago, after another outage, I bought a 200′ Ethernet LAN cable from Amazon for $14. Today, I used it. I had to run it from our 1st floor, where the TDS feed is, to the 4th, which is where my desk is. So, the cable had to traverse three sets of stairs. We did it. Worked first time. I was getting 400Mbps! Yes, 400Mbps! So, I can’t complain. SMILE.

But, having one Internet down still rattles I.

I am going to switch things around. ABB is not a good provider.
