With The New ‘Venu’ Garmin Makes Its First Foray Into AMOLED Displays, With 50% Higher Resolution.

I had given you a head-up on the Venu a few weeks ago, but I had no idea what the specs were going to be. Now, we know.

It, other than in terms of physical size/weight, DISPLAY TYPE and battery life, is IDENTICAL to the also new Vivocative 4 — albeit the Venu $50 more expensive. See 2nd image above, from Garmin, when you do their COMPARE and ask just for the ‘differences’.

The BIG breakthrough is the AMOLED touchscreen display with a 390×390 resolution, a full 50% higher resolution than on other recent Garmins, including the new Fenix 6. That is BIG. Wow. A 50% increase in screen resolution. The watch face is Garmin’s ‘old’ 1.2″ standard (as in say Fenix 5 Plus) rather than the new 1.3″ as in Fenix 6 & VA4. Also 20mm strap, as in Fenix ‘S’ models rather than the 22mm strap.

I gather, however, that this takes a heavy toll on battery life and it is difficult to keep it in ‘Always On’ mode. Garmin’s stated battery life (above) would indicate (to I) about a 24-hour battery life with 3-4 hours of music and 1.5 hours of GPS. I could just about get by with that, but it would be frustrating.

Garmin has added a LOT of high-end functionality into the Venu & Vivoactive 4: viz., Pulse Ox, Body Battery, respiration tracking, advanced sleep monitoring, music, Garmin Pay, fall detection etc. So, that is a LOT of smartwatch for the $399 price. Much better than anything that Fitbit offers — from what I can see. I am glad. I am a longtime Garmin shareholder. SMILE.

While the Vivoactive 4 is available now, the Venu is slated for Garmin’s infamous 5-8 weeks. That is not good. I will keep an eye on that for you.

Pope Francis Should Avoid Temptation Of Assigning Suburbicarian See Of Porto–Santa Rufina To Parolin, Sandri Or Ouellet.

A Suburbicarian See, i.e., one of the 7 ancient sees surrounding Rome, becoming vacant is the Vatican equivalent of a vacancy in the U.S. Supreme Court. Not too many slots, in the case of Suburbicarian Sees just 6 in reality (because the Dean automatically gets two), and those who hold them seem to be blessed with unusual longevity.

So, suburbicarian see, Porto–Santa Rufina becoming vacant after 21-years is a BIG deal. It is also the FIRST to become vacant in 11-years.

This was why, Francis, last June was forced to create four IRREGULAR Cardinal Bishops — i.e., Cardinal Bishops who did NOT have title to a suburbicarian see. Prior to this, in order to be a Cardinal Bishop, you had to hold the title to a suburbicarian see. That was actual requirement and definition.

Cardinal Bishop = Suburbicarian See.

When he created his four IRREGULARS (so that there would be some under-80 cardinal bishops who could participate in a conclave) he was ADAMANT that the IRREGULARS were no different to the regulars — i.e., those that held title to a suburbicarian see.

That is the main reason why he should not give the newly vacant suburbicarian see to one of the IRREGULARS.

It would, at a stroke, destroy his contention that the IRREGULARS were REGULARS. If they were he wouldn’t feel obliged to give the see to an IRREGULAR. What for? Per Francis they are as good without, as with.

Plus, he would be breaking Church Law. It is possible that I am the ONLY one that knows of this 1914 Law passed by Pius X. But, trust me, it is the Law. I do know my Church Law.

Yes, popes live to break the Law and they can do so with impunity. Their actions cannot be questioned or challenged. But, it will be wrong.

That is where we stand. Now YOU know all the facts.

It is some kind of sweet dispenser. We haven’t even tried to get to those.

It is addictive. You press — what I would have to describe as its ‘bra’ — and it CLAPS. Magical. Kept me amused for minutes.

She had seen it and had said that she had to get it for Dad because she knows me.

I wish I could share it with you. If you see one, BUY it. It will be well worth whatever you pay for it. I don’t think it will be that expensive.

Now, I need to go and play.

SMILE.
