Jason Roy’s Outrageous Dissent Against Umpire Was NOT Cricket, NOT British — But Kumar Dharmasena Goofed TOO.
I watch at least an hour of cricket, on my 47″ TV, nearly every day — year around. So, I, indubitably, have seen a LOT of cricket.
But, what I saw from Jason Roy, I am sure, was unprecedented. I am sure I have never seen such open dissent on an umpiring decision. Yes, I saw the various ball tampering ‘rows’. But, that was not a single batsman, in the middle, complaining about an umpiring decision. This was not cricket. I was surprised. It was also not very British. We are guardians of the game.
He should have been punished more severely. They should have made him miss the final. Doesn’t matter that it was a HORRIBLE, wrong umpiring decision.
Plus, it was NOT like the game was tight. England had basically won and had more than enough wickets in hand.
Kumar Dharmasena has made some real howlers in the past and this was up there. You could tell he looked confused. He also started to raise two-fingers. He probably had forgotten that England had no reviews left. He must have thought the review would sort it out. But, there was no review. But, still NO EXCUSE for such dissent. That is NOT cricket. We can’t let this happen. It will ruin the game.
This was a long and painful Internet outage. In reality, I really shouldn’t complain since I was not majorly impacted! As I was said many times before I maintain TWO (2) Internet services to the house — one from TDS and the other from Atlantic Broadband — JUST for contingencies like that. And today, yet again, it paid off. I have been talking about a load-balanced system where both Internet feeds are bonded together for years but have yet to do so!
In terms of Wi-Fi we are seamlessly covered. Our mobile devices can easily pick up either router. So, that is not a problem.
But, I like my main PC, i.e., this, to be hardwired. And today for the first time I did it! Two years ago, after another outage, I bought a 200′ Ethernet LAN cable from Amazon for $14. Today, I used it. I had to run it from our 1st floor, where the TDS feed is, to the 4th, which is where my desk is. So, the cable had to traverse three sets of stairs. We did it. Worked first time. I was getting 400Mbps! Yes, 400Mbps! So, I can’t complain. SMILE.
But, having one Internet down still rattles I.
To make it worse, my ‘system’ did not automatically come up when Atlantic Broadband finally got everything up. Yes, I was monitoring Facebook.
I had to call them and got a WONDERFUL techie, named ‘Vera’ (who I have dealt with, v. successfully before), who spent 40-minutes helping me go online. Nothing profound. Just a question of repeatedly restarting modem — and then the router — till it all clicked. Stressful BUT it worked. Thanks Vera.
So, that was that saga.

Went to the ‘new’ ‘Woodshed‘ in Moultonborough for dinner last night after ‘The Barnstormers‘ at ‘Castle in the Clouds‘. This was the name of their featured drink (which was very good) and they were kind enough to have this badge perched atop the drink.
I am SOLD. I can live with that. ‘Skip & Go Naked‘.
The question is will YOU join me?
My old motto ‘Think Free, Or Die‘ isn’t as catchy.
The New ‘Woodshed’.
So, My New Name & New Motto.
It was OUTSTANDING.
Left one wanting MORE … MORE … MORE.

This was the first time the ‘Castle in the Clouds‘ had done this event, i.e., having the ‘Barnstormers‘ (from Tamworth, NH) perform, and with their customary Midas touch they hit a rich vein of pay dirt. It was OUTSTANDING. The best $10 I have spent in years. Wow. Loved it as did everyone else that was there — and it was a full house.
Very well organized and that the upstairs room in the imposing Carriage House is air-conditioned and that there were adult beverages for sale was a bonus.
Yes, it was advertised that it would be ‘about an hour’. It lasted 44-minutes from the time the cast arrived in the room till they took their final bow. The timestamps on my pictures tell the stories. That was our only disappointment. It should have been longer. Even a full hour would have been too short. 90-minutes would have been close to perfect — and they could have definitely charged us more. Well worth it.
Great cast. Enormously talented. Very personable. Bravo.
THANK YOU ‘Castle in the Clouds‘. Another wonderful event.
